"New Quantity" Field in the Inventory Upload Template

For the last 5 years, we have used the Upload Templete to receive larger orders, putting the new quantity in the field titled NEW QUANTITY and after uploading, that quantity would appear in our Inventory History as "Received" and added to our existing quantity. Over the past few months, we've noticed that the system no longer "RECEIVES" that quantity but Recounts the the total quantity. Can anyone shed light on how to bulk upload new quantities for them to be received vs recounted? For larger orders, receiving them manually is unreasonable, especially since we didn't have to do this before. Any help or insight into the change would be greatly appreciated.

I haven’t used the upload template to try and manage inventory so can’t address that particular problem. What I’ve found to work very well for managing inventory and receiving large orders is the item management functions built into Square for Retail, particularly the purchase orders. You can create the purchase order for a particular vendor then when you receive the order you can just open that PO and hit receive all. It also allows you to enter in any taxes and shipping costs that apply to that particular order so that you can get a true cost of goods so you have an accurate profit margin report.

You cannot create a purchase order until items are entered into inventory, which is often done with the upload tool. Why take away the ability to efficiently upload the new quantity received at the same time as adding / updating items?

I know how to use Purchase Orders and when / how they work for our inventory management. They are not ideal for all scenarios and the way the upload spreadsheet used to work was perfect. Now it's counter productive. If anyone has advice on the our specific question that would be greatly appreciated.
