FOB- Now more than ever!
We got hit with our first tariff bill from FedEx yesterday- and it certainly is going to change the way we order.
With that said- I figured I'd remind everyone to check FOB locations when ordering. FOB means free on board and lets you know what the originating location/port is for shipping.
For us Americans, we want a FOB point that is within the USA. I just had to check this yesterday with an upcoming order.. and it really brought me back to a job 20+ years ago when I was importing all the time from overseas.
Hopefully this helps someone else- it's going to be necessary while we are dealing with tariffs to be extra aware of what FOB points are.

Hey there 👋
Thanks for sharing this reminder—super helpful! Tariff bills can definitely be a shock the first time they land 😬, and checking the FOB point is one of those small details that makes a huge difference in costs.
You’re spot on—if the FOB location is overseas, you’re on the hook for tariffs when it lands here. But if the FOB point is within the U.S., you avoid that surprise bill from FedEx. Easy to overlook, especially when you’re just trying to get an order placed quickly.
Appreciate you dropping this tip—it’s one of those “learned the hard way” things that can save a lot of headaches (and dollars) for others 🙌.
