It is fresh out of the box, got everything else set up. I have put thermal paper in it and tried restarting it several times. Every time it starts the paper feeds out a little bit, but does not print. I can't tap Settings > Hardware > Printer in the square terminal either.

I tried a factory reset but in the end it was a defective item. The replacement terminal works fine

@kanajess Have you tried a factory reset? I saw you stated you can’t access anything with the touch screen, you can try a Hard Reset the steps are below. Hopefully that will get things working.
1. Perform a Hard Reset:
• Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds until a black screen with a countdown timer appears.
• Continue holding the power button until the timer reaches zero and prompts you to release it.
After the Reset:
• Reconfigure Settings: You’ll need to:
• Answer basic setup questions, such as setting the correct time zone.
• Reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
• Sign in using your Square account credentials or device code.
• Re-add any accessories, like cash drawers or printers, and adjust settings to your preferences.

Thank you, I tried factory reset and several different methods, but in the end I got it replaced and it is working fine that way. It was a defective item I guess
