Crew App to Square Teams issues

We have a Square Merchant account with a Teams subscription and currently use the Crew App, which is being migrated to Square.

 

We have two questions:

1) Is it possible to migrate Crew App data to our existing Square account? The migration process only appears to offer the option of creating a new Square account.


2) Can you apply the "Legacy Crew Customer" pricing to our existing Square Teams subscription instead of opening a new account to receive this pricing?  If we do this -- we will end up with two Square accounts.  We have been Square customers for almost 9 years!

👋@LSPA - Jerry from Square here! Excited to see a Crew user who's also been a long-time Square seller. I can't wait for you to have all of these core capabilities consolidated into a single platform/tool!   

 

As you work with our support teams as recommended by @MayaP , wanted to provide some additional color and guidance around your questions:

  • Unfortunately not - crew data will only be migrated to a brand new Square account automatically created during the migration process. This is in the spirit of preserving your existing Square account and ensuring migrated data from Crew and any conflicts/differences v.s. data already existing in your Square account are avoided. 
  • I would recommend 1 of 2 options depending on what you value: 
    1. Standard migration - this will take care of everything (i.e., data migration, team member invites, past files/scheduling data, etc - see more details in our FAQ article) and make the transition seamless, but will create a new Square account and the need to manage two accounts separately, moving forward.
    2. Consolidate - manually onboard and move your team to Square's Team Management, Team Communication, and Shifts product on your existing account. This will mean more upfront setup work as part of the transition and crew data won't be moved. This will however allow you to manage a single Square account moving forward. We know this isn't ideal, so a) we can definitely apply the same Square Staff Crew Legacy plan to your existing Square account and b) offer an extended trial as our way of giving you more time to get set up and transitioned to Square. 
  • Note: if you go the consolidate route and the data is important to you, you might also want to consider reaching out to Crew Support before losing access to ask if they can help you export for record keeping.

We would prefer to go with option 2, as having two Square accounts would create confusion. I reached out to Square support for assistance, but they are unable to make a decision without approvals.

@LSPA I've worked with our Square support team and we've taken care of this for you and activated the free trial on your existing Square merchant account. You can start onboarding your team and using Team Communications/Shifts capabilities. Thanks!
