I'm trying to create 2 categories one cash and one credit with different prices in each. I'm not able to figure it out. This is for a barber shop. I'm trying to add a fee for credit card use.
Thank you
Randy

Hi Randykirkpatric,
I don't think you can do what you have in mind however, you should be able to take a different approach.
First we need to understand one thing - is your intention to apply a surcharge to the credit card transactions - meaning you want the customer to pay the transaction processing fees ? If yes, doing so is not the best practice because in some of the states, there may be certain restrictions on credit card surcharging. Suggest checking your state regulations. Also, major credit card institutions, such as Visa and Mastercard, set forth rules and regulations for merchants to follow when implementing surcharges. Not only must you notify major credit card institutions—in writing—about your intent to surcharge, you also have to make sure your customers are aware of your intention to surcharge - clear signage is one way. You can work around all of this by either increasing your prices or adding a Service Charge - the Service Charge could even be setup as an "Item" and then added to any charge for a haircut. Doing it that way, you setup your various haircuts as individual items and if your customer wants to pay with a credit card, you also include the service charge item else, you select cash. Make sure your customers understand your policy and what the service charge is for.
A Better option: One last thought which may be your best option is to setup a "Discount" that you would apply to a Cash Transaction. This way each type of haircut has their own cost - if they pay by credit card, you simply process the transaction as normal. If they pay by cash, you can then apply the discount. This way you get the best of both worlds and are giving your cash customers a break.

Yes, this is my intent. In the great commonwealth of Pennsylvania, you can have a charge for credit card use. However, when I try to set it up with the method you said it will not allow me to do it for the service industry.
