Over the weekend it seems that there was a UI update that changed the way the products names or titles are showing up on the grid. The product name is now significantly shortened with a trailing ... to the point we can no longer figure out the difference between one product to the next unless we remember it's price or do a search.
We are a service based store, so a lot of our products will all start out with a similar word(s) and then it's size. Because of the update all we see are the first 2 words and then the ...
I called support and of course they were pretty useless and said they would put in a feature request to have it reverted back. Meanwhile this is going to cost me a lot of time and money to rename 100s of products so we can easily use the grid layout. Having to search for each product is also just too time consuming.
We have been using Square Register system since it came out in 2017 and it's been one headache and hurdle after another but we stuck with it. Throw us a favor and get this sorted out or at least give us some more options on the Product Grid formatting.
Make things easier for us, not harder!

Hey @blacklabimaging I am sorry to hear this has been your experience! @_Violet and I did escalate this and our team has confirmed we have design guidelines to limit the tile name t max 2 lines. You can get a maximum of 2 lines if you remove the Initials. Or add images/colors to their tiles.
If this does not work for you, I would suggest reaching out and submitting a request for this in our Ideate Board. I apologize for any inconvenience and please let us know if there is anything else we can do.

I've just reached out to the Square Register product team to see if they can provide more insight into this change that you've noticed. I'll follow up with you here once I receive and update.
In the meantime, I suggest double-checking to make sure that your Register is on the latest software version.

Hi Violet,
Yes the Register is up to date for the Software.
We are really hoping there is a fix coming soon to this because it is becoming very frustrating to use.
There is basically no point in even using the Product Category Tabs with the gid layout because you can see what the products actually are. Makes the register almost useless.
Can you get us a status for the fix on this?

We are trying to hang in there but now there is another new change that happened that is creating major issue on our end.
Now when you click on a product, a side panel open up from the right side of the screen that shows you options for the item. Before it would fill almost the whole screen. Now its only taking up about a third on the right and it makes things so unbelievably hard to see and we keep finding ourselves now making mistakes and not correctly charging the customer. A sale now take 3 times as long to get through because of these changes.
WE NEED THE REGISTER SYSTEM BACK TO THE WAY IT HAS BEEN FOR YEARS. NOW!!! NOT TOMORROW OR A MONTH FROM NOW BUT NOW!!!!
Are the developers even testing these things out before making these changes? Has anyone actually consulted the sellers for their input. You keep breaking things. Stop it already!!!!

@blacklabimaging The way we get around this is, we download the free version of Square POS. Tap edit and select a tile, then on the next screen tap the tile at the top. A window will pop up and say Cannot get album, tap OK, then tap the Tile again and you can edit name. Bedlow is a phot and a short video.

So it's been almost 4 months now and in TRUE SQUARE FASHION there are numerous complaints about the same problem and NO SOLUTION OR FIX and tech support seems unaware of the problem or a resolution to it.
Seriously thinking of switching to Shopify soon.
Thank's Square for the worst few months of retail nightmare from your horrible new UI.
