Drawer changes my preset amount to 999,999.99 when starting

Running Square for Retail on the Square Register. Build 6.72sw this started happening within the last 2 weeks. My cash management settings have my drawer starting with 800 dollars automatically. Within the last 2 weeks you hit the button to start drawer in the morning and the start amount automatically changes to $999,999.99.  Big surprise at the end of the day if I don’t catch it and my drawer is short almost a million bucks. Has anyone else noticed this and found a fix? Luckily I am the only one working so it’s not a huge deal if I get in a hurry and don’t change it back to the correct amount. I’ve checked all of my cash management settings and they are showing the correct amount so it’s a bug in something IMG_0477.jpeg

The engineering team got back with me. They are aware of this issue and it is set to be fixed in 6.74 which starts rolling out on 7/15 @homeprogreen @foliopress @ryanwanner

@homeprogreen  We, as in the seller community, don't. I'm in the Square Users Group on FB and this little "annoyance" popped up there. I pinged Isabelle and Nika when I saw it in that group because I found it.... interesting. 😶

A couple of our sales team mentioned the one penny shy of a cool mil just today and it occured one other instance. Probably a side issue related to some other change the coders were making. 

 

If not broken, don't fix.

Same thing keeps happening to me on my Square register as well. Started the drawer this morning and the float was set to $999,999.99 

This used to happen infrequently, but for the last month it's happening all the time. When should I expect to see a version update? Is this something I can force?

Hey @katiefinn, the latest Square app version 6.74 should have been rolled out to all devices. 

 

When you go to ≡ More > Settings > Hardware > General > About Square Register, do you have the option to check for update and see if latest version is available for download?

This has been a problem for us as well! It started happening periodically about 5 months ago, but now it's happening all the time. @tranguyen @Summer2024 @isabelle  any help or updates would be greatly appreciated!

I'm so sorry that this issue has been happening for so long @TheBurrow!

 

Our engineering team confirms that they have roll out a fix in the latest Square app version 6.74. When you have a moment, please go to  ≡ More > Settings > Hardware > General > About Square Register or About Square Terminal and check if there's any pending update.

 

If you are using a Square Stand or an iPhone or Android mobile, you can check for software updates from ≡ More > Support > About.

 

If you are using version 6.74 already and the issue still persists, can you let confirm the exact device you are using and the software version? I can get our team to look into this further.
