Standard POS Android Permission Set
We have an Android mobile phone device at each of our locations. Its only function is to easily upload completed ticket files to customer records. However, since Android only allows for Standard POS at this time, there is no option for setting permissions, and the device code setup simply inherits the permission settings from the Location, which includes Checkout and Transactions and Team info and several other things that are not needed to be accessible on this particular device. We simply need to interact with the Customers module only. The entire purpose of this device is for the back of the house team to update customer records when orders are completed.
Is there a way to accomplish this for the Android Phone Device?
Thank you.

I have 2 ideas for you:
- Try installing the Square Beta App and see if this works for your needs. On my cell I have the POS and Beta Apps. The Pos lets me do most things where as the Beta App is more like the Retail app. It is NOT fully the Retail app but lets you do a few more items.
- The other idea is to get a Chromebook and create a user account that can only access certain features, like the Customer Module. Then when a person (employee) logs into Square via Chromebook this employee can have for example Backoffice user ID and Password of Customer service for example and you can set these permissions for that user in your settings. Basically if you can do this information in the Backoffice web program you could do it on a Chromebook using the web browser login and not setting up an App on the Chromebook.
- I also see what you mean where it Automatically assigns Square POS for the Device Item, maybe put in an Ideate for the feature to add Payments by Device Code. For example your situation of logging in to do other features that does not require Payments feature.
The reason I suggest a Chromebook is they are about $150.00 and its Android based. You can check these both out free before buying by installing the beta to your android device to test, and can also log in to a computer and test if the web browser interface will work for your employees in the back office.
