Create discount by certain amount?

Is it possible to create a Square POS Discount by price amount reached?

Example: Original item is $99 and the discount is Buy 1 Get 2 Free.

BUT the offer is mix and match.

SO, the customer can buyer a $99 item, another $99 item and 2 $49.99 items for a total of $199 off.

I would like to create a Square POS Discount that applies when a total of $299 is reach, despite qty?

Thank you in advance.

Thank you so much. After many attempts and adjustments, I finally reached out to tech support at Square and they suggested the exact same steps. Yay!

I also wanted to get, I guess, too techy with discounts:

1st item is $99, 2nd item is $99 and with 2 more at $49 each for another total $99 for a total of $199 discount, but they politely said NOPE not possible yet. 🤔😀

Hi MRand2020,

For the POS App, I'm thinking that the best you can do is setup a Minimum Spend Requirement on the total amount.  Square's out of the box Apps and Online Settings have limitations on Rules concerning both Coupons and Discounts.  Maybe another volunteer Community Member has some suggestions.

Thank you! I did just stumble upon that and it seems to be what I need, but now each time I try to apply the discount and bar code scan items the total comes out to ZERO.😀🤔

When I scan a barcode of an item in my inventory and have Square automatically apply a MINIMUM SPEND discount my total keeps coming out at ZERO.

Item is $99.99 Buy 1 Get 2 Free
So I scan 2 more for a discount of $199.97, with the customers' total being $107.49 (taxes in my area 7.5%), BUT is keeps coming out to ZERO.

If I add the items manually and discount manually, NO scanner, all tapping on my POS screen the the discount applies properly. What am I missing?

Hi @MRand2020.  The discount you have set up is not the discount you think you have set up.  What you showed in the screen shot (thank you for sending one!!) is basically discounting every item in your cart once the minimum threshold is reached.  Here’s the fix.

  1. Edit your discount definition.
  2. In the “Automatic discount” section, click “edit purchase rule,” then select quantity.
  3. Enter 1 for the quantity then select the items you want this to apply to.
  4. Change your discount rule.  Enter “2” for the quantity you are giving away, and selected the items this applies to.

Here’s my screen shot of a test discount I set up to mimic yours.  It worked beautifully.  After I added the first Affogato, the next two I added were free.  When I added the fourth, I was charged for it, but the 5th and 6th were free.  Etc.

I hope that helps.
