Mobile Sticky Printer for POS

Has anyone found a mobile sticky printer that works with Square? Or maybe a mobile printer than can use both regular thermal paper and thermal sticker (not the linerless kind). I like the epson TM-P20 II but i'm not sure if i can use stickers with it.

@MsEmmy Currently there are no mobile printers that print sticky labels for Square. There are a couple of USB printers that will print sticky labels, but they are linerless. Below is the printer compatibility page it has all the printers that work with Square and what they print on.

I've reviewed their answers to label questions and I'm not sure mine was covered. this is actually for orders at outdoor venues and not labeling products. i need a mobile printer to print drink orders.

Thank you, yes i saw them. That's why i was wondering if anyone had found a compatible one that can also print on labels as well as regular paper.

Are you wanting it to print labels like for coffee? what type the customer wants? If so have you thought about just adding another thermal printer at the location you are making the coffee and just taping it to the cup?

Yes thats the type of labels. the order and customer number. I'm worried about the tape sweating off from condensation. i was just wondering if i could replace regular thermal paper with thermal labels on a roll with any of the mobile printers.

I think the problem would be the printer driver.  If you used labels like the Dymo labels, you would have to have a way to select the size, if not you would more than likely print out 5 or 6 labels, because the printer would think it is printing a normal receipt.

Is changing paper size not available? is there no way to say you want a certain size receipt. Since i would be doing single line printing of just the drink flavor the receipt wouldn't be very long

It be doable if a print screen would popup.  You know when you print something from a desktop printer? The print screen pops up and you select letter, legal, tabloid, postcard….etc.  that tells the printer what size to print.  Unfortunately the receipt printer driver built into Square doesn’t give you that option.  It’s preset.   If you want to test to see if it would work you would need labels like this (photo below).  I do t know what size paper your printer takes, this one is 2 inches wide and you will probably have to roll some of it off to make it fit, but for 6.00 you could try it.

thank you. i havent bought a second printer yet. thats what i was trying to figure out if i could find a mobile printer that would be able to print such. but i found this thread and it seems to answer my questions

so it looks like i may be able to use a mobile thermal printer and just change out the roll. If i am understanding correctly. despite it not actually being an actual sticky printer (and i wouldn't be using linerless though, i wanted backing paper)

I read the thread and watched the video, then I started researching more. Below is just information I gathered on the internet, I have not tested it to make sure it works.

Looks like the Star SM-S230i can be configured in the star app to print shorter tickets, apparently you can program the printer and save it to it’s internal memory, instead of needing a print setup window.  Also when you set printer profile up in the Square POS I would test these 2 options to see if they will make the ticket even shorter.

From what I have read this is the iOS app you can use to adjust the paper size even more.

Lastly here is a link to setup a Bluetooth printer to Square.

This printer won’t print regular sticky labels.

  • It’s designed for plain thermal receipt paper rolls (2-inch width).
  • It does not have the sensors or mechanics needed for labels (like gap detection or liner handling).

I think Dymo makes continous sticky paper rolls, if you could find a size that fits you wouldn’t have to worry about gap detection, because the whole roll is sticky paper. The only problem I could see with this is if the paper is too thick for the printer and it jams ups.

Like I said above I haven’t tried any of this, it’s just research I got from the internet. Hopefully this will help.
