(Known Issue - Resolved 12/12/23) Change screen for Cash Transactions went away

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Why was it removed?"

 

I updated my app this morning and now the screen to tell me how much change to give on a cash sale has been removed.  Why was it removed?  The whole purpose of the app is for a cash register. The support from Square said they would file a complaint for me but it was removed in the latest update.

Hi there @Etheriacafe and @thestorehouse - Please make sure that you have updated your Point of Sale app to version 6.32 (this was just released yesterday). If you have already updated to version 6.32 and are still experiencing this issue, please be sure to cover the additional troubleshooting steps listed here.

Hey @thestorehouse.  I just updated Square POS to 6.31 and did a test transaction.  When I keyed in a transaction for $6.89 and pressed the $10 button for payment, it popped up this screen.  That tells me that this functionality was not removed.  

 

So, a couple of ideas.  First, force close the POS app and start it again.  Do a test and see what happens.  That should fix it.  If not, completely sign out of the Square POS, delete the app and reinstall it.  The sign back in and try a test app again.  It seems that something is wrong with the app on your device, since I’m still seeing the functionality is there.

 

Let me know if that doesn’t work.

Just a thought, Tap More at the booth right hand corner of the POS app, then settings/Checkout/Signature&Receipts. Make sure Skip receipt screen is turned off. Sometimes when I update the app it gets turned on and that bypasses the receipt screen to speed things up. Hopefully this will fix your problem.

Thanks but wish that would help but no it still won't return.  Customer Service told me it was removed in the last update.  Wonder if anyone else is missing this feature??

Our change due screen is gone as well.  Have a ticket with customer service since yesterday (12/5/23) morning, no response yet...it's very annoying because I have teenagers that need a little extra help when giving change back!!  😑

Hi Winton sorry to hear you are dealing with the same issue.  Square doesn't make sense sometimes, they eliminate things we really need as retail businesses with no warning.  I hope enough people put a complaint in to make them do something.  My complaint has been in since Monday.

I was able to get in touch with our engineering team for some additional context. There are a few other Sellers who have been impacted by this as well. We currently have a support ticket open for this issue, so our engineers can investigate further, and I'm keeping an eye on it for updates. I'll be sure to pass along the info to you as I receive it.

For now, we suggest enabling the receipt screen, as @rtfulk mentioned, so you can still have access to the "change owed" screen. You can do this by going to More > Settings > Checkout > Signature & Receipt and then toggling ‘Skip Receipt Screen’.

Thank you for reaching out and offering that tip.  Are you saying turn the receipt screen off?  If so, I have had it off and that doesnt help me.

Ok so we tried that...keeping the receipt screen on for the last few hours.  That doesn't help us either, no change owed showing.

I'm not clear on where the "More > Settings > Checkout > Signature & Receipt" is. This doesn't seem to exist on my actual register iPad, and I cannot find anything in the online dashboard.

Hi Sayra, I have communicated with Support and all they could tell me was that what I am looking for was eliminated on the latest update and they were going to file a complaint for me.  But, Violet said and update to the app is coming and I am on the lookout for that.

I'm having the same issue. I deleted and reinstalled the app this morning; no dice. Why would y'all take this away in the first place? People still definitely use cash. Please let the developers know it's not fixed.
