It seems recently the gtin field is not visible or editable from the items menu in square retail point of sale. We typically import items from a spreadsheet but often we don’t have gtin codes until the product arrives so we scan and add the gtin/upc code from the point of sale items menu right before the product hits the sales floor. In new items imported this field is no longer shown. Point of sale and operating system are up to date.

I am not sure if there was a change to the POS App or not, but on a Ipad I do see the GTIN field. I also have not found a Square for Retail app for an android device only the POS app.
So on your device which App are you using for Square? Square has about 3 Apps:
- Square POS Black Square Icon
- Square for Retail Green Square Icon
- Square for Restaurants Orange / Red Square Icon
In the settings for Square Pos you can not use GTINs unless they are in the SKU field, but in Square for Retail you can use either.
My guess is if you had it before in the App Square did remove this in the Square POS app for less confusion to users using the Free Pos.

I did confirm that is a known bug and our team has released a fix. Can you check to see if there are any updates on your app? Try deleting and reinstalling.

We have square for retail (green/teal app) previously it had a separate field for sku and for gtin on the item screen from the point of sale. However now that gtin field is no longer showing to edit from the item menu on point of sale. I can still edit it from computer dashboard and uploaded spreadsheet but not in point of sale.

Tagged MayP for more context of what I see and for clarification from JacksonEliz. I agree it would be nice to be able to see the GTIN fields on the Square POS app in an Android device.
Which POS hardware are you useing the Green App Icon with? When I am on my Android devices I am only able to Download Square POS and Not Square for Retail. Now if you are using a system that I do not have, then maybe you can get the Square for Retail app. I did test this on my Square for Retail on my Ipads and do see a GTIN field.
On my Android I do not see the GTIN even on the same Item even using the Square Beta Teal green app as you can see:
