Can the USB barcode scanner from Square scan a barcode/QR code on a phone?

So I was testing my USB barcode scanner to see if I can scan a en eGift Card barcode from an email. It wasn't working I even tried to scan the QR code you can switch between the two. Does anyone know if it's possible to scan a barcode from on a phone using the USB scanner Square sells?

If you are referring to the Zebra ls2200 series USB corded Scanner.

It will not Scan a QR code since it is a 1D scanner.  

Depending on your Cell phones image and reflection of the screen the scanner might be able to scan a cell phone barcode.

I use the Zebra DS2200 and also a Zebra DS6878.  Both of these are USB and 2D type scanners and both can read cell phones, most of the time.

The usual problem why a Cell image cannot be read by a scanner is the angle or reflections.  Another issue arises if you try to zoom in on the barcode this could distort the spacing of the barcode causing it not to read.
