Uploaded images blurry

I am uploading images directly from my computer (not Etsy or anywhere else).  Thumbnails look great, but image photos are either:  clear when they first appear, then after a couple of seconds, go blurry (weird), or blurry when they first appear, and really blurry when magnified.  Is there some sort of filter being applied in the first case (clear then blurry)?  Help, please!

HI, all images need to be 1:1 and then image ratio adjusted on Home Page, Shop All page and individual item page.

Hope this helps!

Hey @MDavisP,

I just heard from the Weebly team that they might be experiencing issues with blurry photos like this.

Engineering is currently working on a fix so if you've already done the steps that @Goldneye listed above and you're experiencing that- it's being worked on right now.

Not sure if this would fix it either but another seller @gymratsinc just posted this on a different thread about blurry images that I thought I'd share:

I tried disabling "zoom in" and yes it works around the problem for me as well. Thanks for the link!

Not sure why this particular thread didn't turn up in search. Oh well!

The 'zoom in' function wasn't active on any of my images, but everything looks great now.  Thanks, Weebly, and to everyone who responded to my post.  I'm SO happy not to have to delete and upload everything again!

I've been having the same problem with the pictures being blurry online. Not sure if the screenshot really does it justice, but here it is. When you click on the item to open, the larger picture is clear, but the shop icons are terrible. I'm using Chrome. Any solutions?

Hi there, @hoodriver 👋 Good to hear from you!

I've gone ahead and merged your post into an existing thread of Sellers who were also looking for information regarding blurry photo uploads to the Online Store. There are a bunch of workarounds listed here. Feel free to give them a shot, and let us know if any of them work for you!

I have the ratios set as 1:1, and the zoom unchecked. Unlike some of the other posters, our shop is not set up as "Shop All." Not sure if that makes a difference. It seems that sometimes they look blurry and other times they look fine, but currently and lately blurry!

HI, what size images are you using?  When an image is too small it gets blurry when stretched to fit.

hopefully these Square Support pages will help

Hi Terri,

Thank you for the information! I'm not using any Shop templates or anything and the website is just a Weebly portfolio. Are the options in your schreenshot available to Weebly users or is that for people who are using the Quick Shop? Thanks!

It's weird, the images are only blurry on the product page. On the front page they display high res, and when the product page loads they flash high resolution but are immediately replaced by a small (like 100x100 zoomed in) image.

For example, the primary image on this page https://byteheaven.square.site/product/cst-bearing-kit/3 is a 1420x1420 JPG, 90% quality, flagged as 72dpi, no thumbnail. ("distance.jpg") As far as I can tell, the square image viewer is replacing the high res image with the thumbnail!

It's just weird. Advice?

HI, thank you for the screenshot and link.  When I checked your store, all images for all items are displaying at high res.

I was going to advise to play around with the Image Gallery on the Item Details page, move the images around Left, Bottom or Right.

BTW, you are able to move the description to under the title and price.

The blurry images problem was a system glitch on the day I first reported it, and I haven't experienced it since, thank goodness!  Thanks for your reply, and the note about product descriptions.

Thanks for the reply(s) everyone. I eventually found my answer in a different thread: my "online" store items were linked to the "square" store. This resulted in automatic downsampling to the least-common-denominator resolution, that of the square store. Unlinking the store data is a workaround for the problem.

This workaround does, of course, introduce the new problem that my stores are no longer linked. In any case, this was (and technically still is) the cause of my problem. 🙂

cheers

Why are my pictures coming out blurry? I already messed with the setting but i cannot come out with clear pictures. I even downloaded a different camera on the app store.

Hey there!

I'm a photographer and have been using Weebly for my portfolio, but I realized that when I put my images in the Gallery, the quality suddenly look really bad. Some of my images are taken in portrait mode, and others landscape, and I shoot with a 4K camera. The images on my computer look great, but when I pop them into the Gallery and hit 'publish,' they all look slightly blurry and busted. Any ideas? Thanks!
