Review.

So I need help I don't know anything about reviews I didn't know that a "occult items" were like against the terms of service. I do tarot or card readings for clients via chat. I don't ship anything. I have clients mainly overseas and I use the square links to "invoice" upon request. But they basically just randomly put me under review because somebody bought twice today and I haven't been using square for a while? I also had some transactions that have been declined but this is because there's a lot of companies that keep trying to take their subscription fee out of my square for some reason no idea why and no idea how to cancel these subscriptions Anyways that aside Basically square has not given me my money of the client that paid And I want to refund their money because after this fiasco I never want to use square ever again. I need that money as it was meant for bills in for help me pay for things since I just moved and they just completely screwed me over without wanting and for no reason they were saying it's because of the international sales but I had plenty of international customers I just haven't you square in several months because I've been constantly moving I became homeless and lost everything I ever paid back I'm trying like well to me it was giant square long and so I feel like I'm being disrespected here by being shoved under review but according to all kinds of things it could be for a variety of reasons and it's just not fair that they're holding my money hostage and it's not even my money because I haven't done the work for this client yet and I have no money I can't this was the only money that I have at the moment and that was supposed to come to me because I used the other money that made earlier for stuff I needed But the point is like I need to figure out if I refund this client are they going to try to steal it out of my bank account or are they just going to give them back the money that they're holding hostage? I plan on deleting my square after this sorted.

Hello @AutumnRivers

I'm really sorry you're going through all of this, but please try to see this from Square's perspective as well. Occult products are specifically called out as something Square doesn't support in the Terms and Conditions every one of us sellers have to read before we are able to accept payments. Adding in the fact that you're mostly serving overseas customers via payment links and invoices will also raise some red flags on your account.

Square is probably seeing your business as quite a risk, which is why they cancelled your service. This is not meant as a slam on your or your business at all, just this is the kind of thing that Square could get themselves in trouble with for allowing you to process transactions on their network.

As for the held money, at this point Square is having to do some significant due diligence that there isn't anything shady going on. I'm not surprised about the hold times at all. Again, I trust that your business is on the up and up, but Square needs to prove that to themselves at this point.

I do wish you the best with your business venture and getting back on your feet personally! You're in a tough position for sure, but the fact that you're still fighting to do right speaks volumes about your character. Hang tough!

They haven't cancelled me just random review they never had a problem prior and I even had a loan with them an repaid it. This was a out of nowhere thing and I believe it's bc I stopped using square for several months bc I lost everything during COVID.

You unforunately have stumbled into a complicated area in Square's Terms of service regarding "occult items" in that there isn't a 100% solid answer.  it seems to mostly tie to is there an implication that there is more to this than the physical cards or implying there is metaphysical properties.  googling it will show lots of different takes on it.

In general I would say the safest thing is to not use Square for this as it isn't 100% clear what the rule is.  This is from a post a few years ago of someone in the same situation....

""The prohibition on using Square to sell “occult materials” and whether or not an item falls under that prohibition is dependent on the purpose for which the item is sold.

The claim that an item you are selling can perform a supernatural or metaphysical act or can be used in a way that is outside the normal physical limitations of the item, would be considered an occult item and would be prohibited under this section 6 of Square’s Terms."
