In need of advice to boost online sales

Hello everyone. I recently started a small online business selling unique custom made pearl jewelry. My business website is the-pearl-girls.com. So far, I haven't made any online sales. Should I start making videos opening oysters, mounting jewelry, describing what I do etc and post to FB? If you have any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much. I am so glad I found this community.

@thepearlgirls Glad you're in the community too! I see your original post here on promoting your business. Have you tried implementing any of these tips? It definitely takes time, but some great suggestions there.

Tagging in @ReneesGreetings@OhHandmadeByNat, and @GeekInStitches as well for potential advice!

I would start with understanding who your target audience is first. Mine, for example, starts with the age group 40s to 80s, predominately women, and they shop Facebook and Instagram the most. That being said, there are other audience avenues for me to pursue.

Local craft shows or art shows can be a really good way to get the word out about your business. Join FB groups in your area for crafting/selling and collect ideas from there as well as showcase your items.
Starting a business, no matter the size, is no small task and absolutely takes time, patience and perseverance.
I wish you the best of luck! 🙂

Love this advice @ReneesGreetings !

Hi @thepearlgirls - I'm Hailey from the Community team. Although I am not personally running a small business, my domain is marketing and over the years (before my time at Square) I helped a lot of small businesses.

I 100% agree with Renees advice to start with deeply understanding your target audience/ideal customer. Where do they find their information? How do they shop online at other shops (do they?). When you get a really granular understanding of your customer, you will be able to think more like them and show up where they do.

If you want to share more about them in this thread, more community members might be able to share detailed advice like @ReneesGreetings local art/craft show advice!!

Yes, I also wanted to add what just came to mind from my own experience- there will be some trial and error. I've done a lot of "try this, little or no result, ok try that" along the way and I'm still in the early stages. Don't give up!

The behind the scenes is what people live for!

Instagram reels would be a great place to start.

So many people are looking to support small businesses with unique pieces.
