Importing Excel File

Hi everyone,

I have an issue with my excel file and trying to import items associated with numerous categories.

Issue 1: I am getting an error message importing an excel file saying to refresh the image and try again. Nothing specific is identified as to what is wrong with my sheet. It is in the same format as other files I have used.

Issue 2: I have men’s polos as a category on my site where all men’s polos are listed, but since square doesn’t have a filtering option for size, I am adding Men’s Sizes as an additional category for items respectively so users can “filter” by their size when they visit the site. When I imported my last excel sheet, the “reporting category” wasn’t recognized nor was the “additional category” column recognized and I had to go through all items to associate them with their size. Very time consuming.

i appreciate the help in advance! Thank you!

My best advice is to add an Item with as much information as possible, Size, Colors, Etc.  Maybe Option sets and Variations.  Then Export the Catalog as an Excel file.   Some of these may show up on Different sheets in the excel file since that exports as a workbook.

I found this out when I created an Options set for my items and when I did the Sell By Units.  So my workbook exports 3 Sheets in the 1 excel file.   You only edit the first sheet.

Here is more about Option Sets : https://square.site/help/ca/en/article/6689-item-options

Maybe create an Option Set for Sizes, then this will make it easy to add sizes.  I did this for my different size Candles.  An Option set creates a Variation of an Item not a New Category in Square.

These two articles may help you out.
