How do I enable/sell eGift Cards for my Square Online Store?

I'm having a hard time setting up my egift cards.  I have everything toggled and enabled, but they are not showing up on my online store.  What am I missing?  Thank you.

Dropping in with a belated update about the Gift Cards feature + your Square Online website!

 

Last July, we introduced the ability to sell your Square eGift Cards online by linking directly to your Square gift card purchase page, which automatically embeds Square Gift Cards into your online stores. If you haven’t already enabled gift cards and added them to your site, please follow the directions below:
 

  1. Go to your Square Online Overview page > Items > Gift Cards. If you have multiple sites, go to Settings > Gift Cards, then click the button to open your Dashboard.
  2. Toggle on the switch next to Sell eGift Cards Online, then select Save on the lower right.
  3. Once done, go to back your Online Overview page > Items > Gift Cards.
  4. Check the Add link to gift card purchase page to site navigation box.

From your site editor, you can also set up or sync your Square eGift Cards by selecting + Add > Page > Gift Cards from the left hand menu. You’ll then be prompted to sync your existing Square Gift Cards account, or set one up. Learn more about Square Gift Cards in general, or specifically about Square eGift Cards.

 

Note: eGift cards will not work with custom domains, nor will they with any e-commerce partners or API integrations.

Once you have eGift Card sales enabled, you'll also have to make an adjustment in your Square Online Store settings. When you select the Online icon in the Square Dashboard, select Items, and then Gift Cards:

Gift Cards do not show up in my items when "adding a menu item."

I do have all of that marked but I don't see a link to buy an e-card on my site or how to add it to my site?

The instructions provided here in my best answer are for enabling the eGift Card on your site, after configuring them in the Gift Cards section of the dashboard @penloe

After you follow the directions to Configure gift cards, to add to Navigation:

 

Go to Online Store >> Website >> Edit Site >> Header >> Navigation >> toggle button to blue

 

Itty bitty word Home and Gift Card will appear under your logo in the header. It redirects to a separate website and from what I can tell purchasing is a separate transaction from ordering online.

do you know if you can modify the items in the navigation toolbar? id like to have it JUST show gift cards not other items like the order here, menu etc

I'm following your graphic instructions but "gift card" is not on the list under items. I've enabled it from the dashboard area also.

@MidCoast You're still not seeing the Gift Card section under the Items tab in the site editor even after enabling it from your Square Dashboard here?

That part works. But when I go to the online store and look for it in the menu, no go. I have 2 Square accounts. It worked for one and not the other. Did the exact same steps. The accounts look different too and not sure why except one has Payroll as part of it so maybe that completely changed the dashboard.

I got it to work on site, but not in the POS. I don't want to sell physical cards anymore and can't figure out how to sell by printing out a code, like you would get by ordering online.

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

 

Please follow these instructions:

 

  1. Log in to your app and tap on Settings from the top-left side bar.
  2. Under Checkout Options tap Gift Cards.
  3. Toggle on Sell eGift Cards in Store.

After that, you'll see the option to sell an eGift Card within the items section. Once you add it to the cart, and the customer purchases the eGift Card, they will be sent the code, and the rest of the eGift Card information that they would receive had they purchased the eGift Card online instead of in-store. Does that make sense? Let me know! 💡

I have Square for Retail app on my iPad and it doesn't have that open. There is no checkout option. I checked my online dashboard and that doesn't have that option. We must be using different versions of the POS software.
