How can I get Square Online to STOP offering Dine-in qr code ordering?

I have a problem with my Square Online ordering app for my cafe. After an initial order has been made, the problem appears the next time a guest uses the app: A notification appears , telling them when they last ordered and asking them if they want to dine in or order for pickup. We do not have dine-in/QR code ordering enabled (toggled OFF "Accept QR Code Orders").  But it still offers it.  Additionally, in response to this problem, we also made the times/days of qr code ordering all but off (it wouldn't let us uncheck all days and hours, so we selected 5 minutes in the middle of the night. However, the toggle already indicates that we do not accept QR code orders).

If a guest DOES select this dine-in QR order offer, the app tells them that QR ordering is not currently available, and then the guest can do nothing else with the app.  Please advise!

Hello @Clatter !

Bear with me while I try to figure out your setup:

You currently offer online ordering via the Square Online environment, but repeat customers are seeing the option to continue like they're using a QR entry or start a new pickup order?

A couple of ideas:

First, you should be able to fully disable QR ordering at Dashboard -> Online -> Fulfillment -> QR Code Ordering. Unless you're using the Square Kiosk software as well you can disable it from here. It's interesting that you're getting errors here. Would you mind sharing a screen shot of what you're seeing?

If you had this option available for a bit (for testing or actual use) and your customers interacted with the site, the site put a tracking cookie in their browser that makes the site ask the continue/pickup question. The only real ways to clear that is to have your customers clear their cache on their browser or wait for a couple of days for the cookie to expire. If you have an order that is known to be placed after you've completely disabled the QR tracking and you still get the error, then something happened on the back end of the system. You can try unpublishing your site then publishing it again to reset things. If that doesn't work, I'd recommend a call to customer support so they can dig into the configurations on the back end of your page.

Hope this helps, and please let us know the status as we troubleshoot!

Thanks for the reply!

I am attaching the prompt. It sounds like you get it.

We think that we HAVE disabled QR code ordering (see photo).

Your idea about cookies and unpublishing/republishing sounds promising. I'll report.

That solution appears to have worked.

I cleared cookies from the device experiencing the pop-up. I unpublished the site and republished it.

I am currently not getting that pop-up.

Thank you!

Jon
