How I can make an item that is an hourly rate use partial hours?

I can't find this answer anywhere, but I charge an hourly rate for services but I cannot find anywhere how to make it record half hours.  If I want to put in 3.5 hours it removes the decimal point and makes it 35.  Is there no way to list hours as fractions and only whole hours??

Hello @fstopPhoto !

You can create fractional rates on an item level. From your dashboard, open up your services item. Look for the Units section. Change Per Item to Hour, and for the price put your whole hour rate.

When you use that services item now you can input decimal rates. With hourly, .25 is equal to 15 minutes.

Hope this helps!

I got it to finally work.   Don't know how but I changed it from a physical item to digital and then it worked.  Switched back and forth from digital to physical and it works both ways now.  Not sure why it wasn't working before but hourly was selected, it just wasn't working.  Thanks.

@fstopPhoto;

I am not sure if there is a way since we never tried to do an hourly rate type plan.  That being said I did see a way to do this before in the Forum.  Here is a Link to that topic : Questions-How-To/Can-we-charge-based-on-hourly-use/m-p/687329

Only other way I could think of is Leave it as units with 15 min intervals, and an hour would = 4 units then.

It's already listed as hourly and it won't do decimals.  That's the problem.

Gotcha.

Ok, I tried creating an hourly rate item on my system, and it is accepting decimals.

First thing I'd try is to make sure your app and device OS are on the latest versions. There may have been a small code tweak in the update that's breaking older versions.

I'd also recommend signing out of Square, restarting your hardware, then signing back in. This will force the app to sync with Square's servers and push the latest data to your system.

After that, try creating a temporary hourly rate item and see if the problem still happens. Something may be glitched with your original item.

Let us know how it's going please!

Good eye! I didn't think about the item types fouling things up.

Glad you're up and running again @fstopPhoto !
