Feature Request: Save customer's Card on File for recurring payments via website purchases

The title of this post has been edited from the original: recurring payments online store

Hello I have been selling with you guys for a long time, I sell internet subscriptions online, I use a form creator called Cognito Forms because when a customer orders service it allows them to save a card on file for recurring billing. Then I use the square recurring billing system to charge each month.

I am in the middle of creating a website with you guys. I am wondering the items I put on the website, after a customer purchases will that customers card automatically save on file, how can i make sure it saves on file?

Thanks

While exactly what you are looking for is not possible using only a Square website at this time, there is a way to accomplish what you're trying to do here @IMRedd.

If you use Cognito Forms, which supports Card on File registration, then our Subscription API may work for you - Card on File information would be saved when customers use the Cognito form. How you use that Card on File is up to you, but you could then use the Subscriptions API to enroll those customers into ongoing payments.

I hope this helps! We'll be sure to pop back here with an update if this capability is ever built into your Square website.

It sounds like you're asking about processing recurring payments using Square Invoices - is that right, @IMRedd? If so, you'll want to read through this article to ensure that your customers have the option to save their card on file for future payments and invoices.

If you're asking if it's possible for a customer to set up recurring payments directly through your Square website, that is considered a feature request at this time. You may want to look into Square Online Checkout links if you'd like to set up recurring payments without using Square Invoices. I hope this is helpful!

So the goal I'm trying to achieve is creating an item on my square site and when a customer purchases that item it saves their card on file, so that we can set up future monthly payments.

Unfortunately I can't accomplish this with square checkout links because I can't set the amount for future payments

The square invoices is what I use now, but I'm wanting to implement a square website into this.

Hopefully this makes things more clear. It may not be possible at this time

To keep it short I'm just wanting to be able to save a customers card on file when they purchase an item on my square site
