Feature Request: Please REQUIRE the customer to Select Date and Time at Checkout

I've brought this up once or twice in previous feedback meetings but the lack of KISS (keep it simple stupid) when it comes to the Square Checkout experience is quite frustrating.

 

When placing an online order for pickup it defaults to the soonest available pickup time. To change the time the customer has to click on the clock and there is NO indication to click or tap the clock to change the pickup date/time. 

 

Fundamentally this is a huge issue because it is causing people to "accidentally" order it for the wrong day/time and our products are time sensitive (Balloons only last for 10-12 hours for the most part).

 

Please correct this and allow us the option to Require a time and date at checkout for all orders.

 

Turning off "Calculate & assign pickup times automatically" makes it so they can't even select a time or date at checkout? 

 

There needs to be an option of requiring customers to pick a date and then pick a time. 


Thank you for your consideration as always, I've brought this up in feedback sessions but have not seen a feature request related to it.

@PartyManiaMD Yes I agree forcing a pickup time is vital.

 

It's not 100% consistent and may not be available in every order mode, but check out this setting:

 

Dashboard -> Online -> Website -> Edit Site

 

Click on the gear icon on the top right of the lefthand column, choose Edit Ordering Flow.

Clicking this box forces a pickup time box when starting an order, at least on a desktop. It's inconsistent on mobile devices.

Hey @ryanwanner , this suggestion pops up quite frequently but that option doesn't exist for retail. There is no edit ordering flow option. I've tried it on desktop and mobile.

 

It's frustrating that requiring them to pick a day/time is not mandatory or at the very least tell them how to change the pickup day/time.

 

The checkout process is not as flawless or intuitive as it could be.

I am 300% on board with @PartyManiaMD request/suggestion here. It really seems like an oversight for retail, especially after 4 years of a pandemic that forced such dramatic changes to online order scheduling needs.
