Automatic discounts disable coupon and loyalty points

Hello everyone,

I receive questions about this feature almost daily. When a customer is checking out and an item in their cart already has an automatic discount, Square disables the ability to apply loyalty points or coupon codes.

It would be incredibly helpful to have a setting allow the stacking of discounts or discount + loyalty. For example, if a customer has an item with an automatic discount, we’d like them to still be able to use their loyalty points for an additional discount.

Another improvement would be to keep the coupon code box visible when there’s an automatic discount. Customers should have the option to either remove the automatic discount to apply their coupon code, or see that an automatic discount is already applied with the coupon box grayed out.

I constantly hear questions like, "Where do I enter my coupon code?" or "How do I use my points?" because these options are hidden without any explanation. Providing clarity would greatly improve the checkout experience for our customers.

This is a good question! And the answer is that at this time, Square Online only allows one discount to be applied during checkout. Stacking discounts is a Feature Request at this time. We’d love it if you'd submit this request on our Ideate page for Square Online.
