A Big Mess

Frustration with the new UI / Dashboard is just "A Big Mess". I miss the quick access links that you could customize and my daily sales at the top for deposits. 

 

All these issues with Square and the horrible slow and menu diving click, to click to navigate is just "A Big Mess"

 

It is almost like Square does not hear us or even tries to reach out. Every email is pre-generated, or the same response AI driven.

 

No real phone support that I am aware of even though I have used Square for nearly 11 years.

Hello @Pandora_Black !

 

You are not alone voicing your displeasure with the new menu system on the dashboard. I recommend heading over to this Feature Request thread and adding to the comments there. The dev team does look at that board on a regular basis and plans for improvements off the feedback left there. 

 

There is phone support available, but depending on your plan level the hours may be limited. Check out the Contact Us page on the help site to see what you have available for support. The last few times I've called in I have connected with an agent within a minute and had my problems solved.

Just to clarify, is the Dashboard you are referring to specific to the app, desktop version, or possibly both?

HI, yes, the Desktop Version. The original version which I am sure will never come back and thus leaves me and my staff just frustrated. The quick access menu links are no longer there and my daily sales along with my transfer and Invoices is no longer there.

 

It was great having these features. Not now!

 

Why in all of life would you create a mess where you have to point and click to do more tasks?

 

I am a professional coder/programmer in java, HTML, .NET and also a developer for another POS system Which cannot use due to legal issues as a developer. It really pains me to post this, but this dashboard is just wrong in so many ways IMO.

 

At least bring back some features or allow users to revert back to the old version. Make the dashboard less point to click and menu diving and just add simple customizations like you used to have it.

@Pandora_Black  Again, I definitely recommend heading over to the Ideate thread I linked to earlier.

 

I do agree completely that the dashboard redesign was short sighted, but I have also found that the best way around this problem--and the majority of problems I see on a daily basis--is to figure out a way to make it work for me. I now have a bookmark folder showing all my usually used dashboard pages. Instead of the navigation within the dashboard itself I just hit my bookmarks folder. In essence, I created my own quick links setup. Is it ideal? No. Does it work so I can continue operating my business? Yes. To me that's enough.

I definitely hear what you are saying, @Pandora_Black and @MountainHouse. I also appreciate your insight as well, @ryanwannerand @Minion. Genuinely, all of your feedback means a lot.

 

Our product designers and engineers at Square do care about the user experience and want Seller's experiences to be as user-friendly and positive as possible. I went ahead and got all of your feedback sent over to our corresponding teams and if I hear back on any changes in the meantime, I will let you know all know.

Thats not all!!! The latest update to Square for Retail on the iPad is even worse! The tip and receipt screen has been redesigned and is much smaller, people with vision issues struggle to see the tiny boxes at the bottom of the screen where you select how you want your receipt. I dont frankly care how these items are styled, but they need to at least be large enough to be legible for all customers. PLEASE pass this on to someone who cares....
