Shipping restrictions based on modifier
Hi There,
Is there a way to have a modifier that if selected will restrict the fulfilment options available to the customer?
I offer products whihc need to be installed, and customers can buy them to install themselves, or I have a modifier to include installation (in the local area) so can that modifier trigger removal of the "shiping" fulfilment method, so I'm not offering installation outside my local area?
Also, is there a way to link up delivery slots with Square Appointments, to make sure that if i have a delivery at a set time, that I can't be double-booked for an appointment? (Mobile location).

Hi @FitMyDashCam, thanks for your post and apologies for the delayed response.
What you are looking to do here wouldn't really work by using item modifiers. It sounds to me like you want to have different items/services available for different fulfilment methods? Let me know if that's not correct.
If it is, I would say the best idea would be to have two different locations set up on your Square account and then two online sites and then assign fulfilment options to items accordingly.
'For Shipping, Pickup, and Delivery settings: These settings are shared across all websites, but you can choose a ship-from location and edit pickup and delivery location visibility per site.' Feel free to check out this support article on managing multiple websites with Square Online
It would be a feature request at the moment for your Square Online fulfilment options and orders to feed into your Appointments availability.

Hi,
No not correct - I want to be able to offer installation to customers within my service area.
The products should also be able to be bought on their won too, for the customer to install.
I sell car accessories - dashcams.
Some want to buy and install themselves, some want me to install for them.
I need to have a solution (and i've tried so many different ways and apps/software) to have a customer be able to browse the products, select one they like, and then be able to either book an appointment to get it fitted if they are local enough (and I bring the product with me) or they just go to checkout and purchase, then i ship/deliver.
I my mind, it should work a bit like the local delivery option - you put in the postcode and it tells you if we can deliver locally or not. It should also then allow the "installation" modifier to be added at least. Even better would to at this point, send the customer to the appointment booking page, and have the items be added to the service (whihc i can do on the backend, but not the customer frontend!?)
This is insanely frustrating given how much I use Square and I want to make it work, I really do - but Square seems to be completely unaware that they have MOBILE businesses and those same businesses also sell THINGS, not just services.

I can appreciate your frustration @FitMyDashCam.
While the current Square Online features cannot do exactly what you need, there is another workaround that can help. I'll be sure to share your feedback with our Product team as well.
Rather than creating a secondary location, you can have two items — one is the dashcam on its own and is available for shipping only, the other item is the dashcam & installation service which can be set to available for local delivery only. You can restrict fulfilment option on an item-level and also limit the areas that customers can order for local delivery.
This way, if customers would like to order the dashcam on its own, they can choose the individual item only. If they'd like to avail of the installation service, they can select the other item.
For the dashcam & installation service item, you can set it up so customers can either select a date and time they wanted to install it at checkout, OR you can turn off the automatic time assignment and let them know you'll be in touch directly to arrange the delivery and installation.
