Product recommendation
Hi Everyone,
Not sure what it is called but I would like, when a customer purchases a product from our online store, they are presented with another product related to their purchase.
Can anyone advise who I can do this please?

You can enable cross-selling, which will enable your site to display other frequently purchased items on the Order Online ordering page. To enable cross-selling for Order Online:
- From your Square Online site editor, open the Order Online page.
- In the editing panel, select Item list > Details lightbox.
- Tick the box to enable cross-selling.
- Publish your site to see the changes live.
When a customer views an item’s details, they’ll see other suggested items with the option to add them to the basket. This is a helpful tool for encouraging larger basket sizes.

Hey @RALGA, apologies it seems like the tick box of the cross-selling section has changed place. Apologies for providing you with the wrong information in my initial reply.
In order to enable cross-selling:
1. Go to your website editor.
2. Click on the Order Online > Item List > Item View.
3. Tick the "Customers also purchased" box.
If you are using the Shop All template, you should have the ability to display similar items on the item page of each of your items.
Hope this is more clear for you.

Thanks for coming back to me @RALGA. It does seem like yo are using the shop all template, so in this case it would be more appropriate to include a Similar Items section on your item pages. This can be an easy way to show your customers what additional items they can add to their baskets that go well with what they’ve already added (e.g. a drink, a matching hat, etc.).
To add a similar items section to an item page on your site:
- In your Square Online site editor, open an item page if you’d like to add the similar items section to.
- Toggle on Similar Items in the editing panel.
- Select the section to see the different aspects of it you can customise further.
- Complete your edits and Publish your site to see the changes live.
Note: This section will display up to 10 items that are in the same category. If an item isn’t categorised, the section won’t display.

Hay @RALGA, thanks for the video. Are you able to go to the specific page for the item? If you click on the box Page: ITEM NAME it should open up a menu so you can edit the specifics of that page for that item, including the similar items section. Let me know how you get on. 😊

Hi @RALGA! Thanks for your patience.
We figured out the reason that this option is not appearing for you because of your site template.
We have two Square Online temples, Shop All (Retail) and Order Online (Restaurants).
Your site is using Shop All but if you switch to Order Online you'll have the option to enable cross-selling. I didn't test this but I am thinking that if you enable it and then switch back to Shop All, the setting may stay enabled.
Feel free to test it out and let me know how it goes!
To switch templates, you'll start by heading over to your online store editor (Square Online overview > Website > Edit Site). Click the Pages drop-down in the top left-hand corner, find the Category Pages section, click the three dots, then select Switch template.

Fantastic. I now have the options.
So am I right in thinking that if a customer selects an item, they will be prompted with "Others bought these" and will see what other product goes with it or do I need to select this action to happen ?
