Items created through square app are ignoring default visibility settings

Since the switchover to the new way Square handles the online store catalogue, Items created through the Square Retail app on iOs are ignoring the default settings for Online store visibility (set to "Unavailable") and instead always being set to "Visible" as default. This is resulting in new items created by staff immediately going live on the website, often with no photo or full details, including items that I don't want to sell online because they're too bulky to ship. As manager I'm having to go through regularly and remove items from our online store constantly as a result.

 

Luckily so far no customers have accidentally bought something not meant to be for sale online but its becoming immensely frustrating. I've tried turning the setting on and off several times, but its not working. I'm trying to train staff to change the setting manually one by one, but its adding a frustrating extra step to loading new items into the system, and sometimes they forget.

 

Is there a solution to this?

The version listed in the app is 6.55w (retail app). Screenshots below show how the interface options look to me.

 

You can see an item I just created as a test here.

As you can see its gone live without me doing anything.
