Can you track Square Online inventory separately from in-store inventory?

Hi all!

I want to have only certain quantity available of one item for my Onlibne store, how could I do that?

Example, I have 20 mugs but only want to have 5 available to sell online.

Is there a way to do that?

Thanks!

I have a couple ideas you could try.  One key is to make sure your inventory tracking remains accurate, so you'll need to have some way to indicate on your physical stock that certain items are set aside for online sales and other stock is for in-person sales.

One way to do this if you only have a few items like this is to make a duplicate copy of your product, and mark it as an online-only version.  You could change the icon or preview image a bit so it's visibly different and then you could manage the inventory separately.

Another way is to use Square's "Locations" feature, which lets you sell the same items but track sales and inventory independently.  Here's an article with more details:

The only current solution is to create a new location for your online store, each with its own inventory. If you're only selling a few items, this won't require much additional effort. However, for larger inventories, repeatedly transferring items between locations can become tedious.
