setting a free item promo

I would like to set up a promo that allows customers to pick one free item from a select list of items, when the order particular items from a select list. I can make a list of the free product options but I don't see an option to set up a list of items they must purchase to receive the free item.

Hi there @Dh222.. Are you using the automatic discounts feature when trying to set this up?  If not, that is exactly where you should be.  The general steps (in your web dashboard) for doing what you want are:

  • Create a new discount, which will have a type of percentage and an amount of 100%.
  • Turn on "discount rules" in the Automatic Discount section.
  • In the popup select "quantity" (not "item or category" as you probably tried to do.
  • In the section "When customer purchases any 1 item from," choose the items that will trigger the free item, being sure to make the quantity 1.
  • Click the "Add diccount rule" button
  • Make the discount rule "buy one, get one"
  • Now create your list of potential free items, with quantity of 1
  • In the "Apply automatic discount" section, decide where this discount will apply.  You can choose to apply on your POS and/or your online store
  • You can also set other restrictions as applicable.

Save the discount and test it out.  It should work exactly as you want.   Let me know if you have any other questions.

Was my post helpful? Take a moment to mark it as a possible "best answer." I hate the term, and wish we could just mark posts as "helpful." But this is our only mechanism at the moment. Just remember "Best answer" should be interpreted as "helpful," and nothing more. LOL. "Best" (ugh) answers help folks possibly find solutions to similar problems they are hoping to solve.
