What are the ways to get customers to opt in on text message marketing?

It has been kind of awkward asking people to opt in for text messaging during check out. Is there another way to opt in?

Hi Blackwell_,

Thought I share a few thoughts - perhaps others here will also think of a few things.

* Let customers know what value they will receive from your text messages, such as exclusive promotions, discounts, or early access to sales.

* Offer a special discount or a coupon code for those who sign up for text messages.

* Promote your text message marketing opt-in via social media, email, your website and in-store.

* Ensure Privacy as customers are more likely to opt in if they feel confident in how their information will be used.

* Show customers the type of content they can expect to receive.

* Use sign-up forms on your website or in-store to collect opt-ins. Make the process quick and easy, and consider offering an incentive for signing up at the point of purchase.

* Ensure compliance with regulations such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) in the United States. Obtain explicit consent before sending marketing messages, and provide clear opt-out instructions.

I had this sign made on zazzle.com for 8.00. It sits at the register and a lot of people scan it.  I like it because it doesn't appear to be pushy.

this is A GREAT IDEA... we really need to get these made for our shop because we are also having a hard time growing our text subscriber base.

I like because it opens up a conversation with people interested in the program and for people who aren't they don't feel like I'm pushing something on them by asking them. Like a silent sales person. 🙂

Just an update on my sign. This weekend we signed up 51 new loyalty members, just because of the sign. My wife couldn't beleive how people come up to the register read the sign and ask us about the loyalty program. So our silent sales person is working great.

create in store signage and put it in your busiest locations. I have some signage related to signing up for texts in our fitting room with a QR code for people to easily scan and sign up that way. We also talk to customers about it and explain it's a great way to get special coupons from time to time, and also reminders about sales and events.

I second this idea.  I have QR codes in the treatment area and checkout area to sign up for text and email marketing.
