Text Message Marketing, what counts towards the monthly total?

A while back we tried text message marketing. I knew about the pricing tiers, but I didn't realize it was counting each recipient as a separate text.

Now I'm wondering, if a customer receives the initial text and we begin texting back and forth, does each reply count towards the monthly total? (I know replying to customers is normally free, but I thought this might be different.)

I really would like to utilize TMM, but I would need clarity on this aspect.

Are you talking to customers through messages?  That doesn't apply towards text message marketing. The numbers counted for text message marketing would only be based on the campaigns sent messages. If you send out a campaign today to 436 people, but then 5 customers reply to that message with questions about the promotion, and you continue the conversation through messages, it would still only count for the 436 sent. The only time this would be more than the number sent is if they sent an image. Media message service (an image) count as 3 SMS messages, so that 436 messages would count as 1308 messages. It also counts from the first of the month to the last day of the month, so if you send out a new campaign every Monday, and there are 4 Mondays in the month, that would be 1744 for the month, if they're sending SMS messages.
