Minimum purchase on coupons thru Square Marketing Campaigns

I just created my first Marketing Campaign thru Square offering a $5 off coupon on FB, etc. What I didn't see in the setup of it is the ability to set a minimum purchase requirement for using that $5 coupon. So what happens if someone comes in with a Code for the $5 off and only buys something for $2??? Do I owe them $3??

Hi @pudgysshop, thanks for posting.

Setting a minimum spend on a coupon is not a feature available at the moment. This would be a feature request, which you can file on our Ideate Board

If you customer uses a coupon on an item which value is less than the value of the coupon, the item will be fully discounted. However, since a coupon is single use, they won't be able to use the difference left on the coupon on another purchase.

If you're looking at adding some limitation to the coupon, you can use the a percentage instead of a fixed amount. This coupon type lets you add a maximum value to limit the total discounted amount applied to a purchase. I understand this isn't the same as adding a minimum amount spent, but I'm hoping you might be able to tweak this option to your business needs.

Another workaround would be to use discounts instead of coupons, as you can set a minimum spend requirement. You'll find more information in this support article.

Let me know if you have any questions.
