Timezone automatically changing

Hi, my business is in Atlanta. When I travel to different time zones is there a way to stop my Square appointments calendar from automatically changing to the timezone I’m in? If I want to update or book a new appointment while I am on vacation in another timezone it always messes me up.

Thanks!

HI, hopefully this Square Support page will help.  Scroll down to Manage Time Zone Settings to lock to your business hours.

Hey there! I had this same problem and figured it out!! I have an iPhone. I had to go to settings- general-date and time- and change set automatically to off. Enter the time zone of your business and bam! Works like a charm. No more time confusion when booking clients while out of town!!

I have the same problem. I have changed the setting as advised in the response above, but that does not change what I see when I open square appointments while travelling. I just talked to customer service on phone and she did not even comprehend the problem. Apparently she has never had to travel to another timezone before.

She reluctantly put in a feature request but told me that it is upto the engineers when to release the feature. And she mentioned I should post this in sellers community. So here I am.

Have you updated your app recently? Sometimes that is a simple way to get all of your settings in order. If you do have the timezone locked to where you normally do business, it will seem like the wrong time in the new timezone you're visiting. You'll have to account for the time change on your own, if that makes sense.

@mdbodysculpting - We took at look at your time zone settings, everything looks good on our end. These settings are very limited so we sent your case to our Appointments team for more insight. Is your app and hardware up to date?

You can always give us a call to speak to an Appointments specialist.

I am currently having the same issue. My business is set to CST, but I'm currently in MST for a few days and any appointments booked with be booked in MST. I also have the below settings enable correctly. I'll let you know if I receive any updates!

Hey there, @ASPettus

Welcome back to the Community.

On your business settings, does your business have a physical address? If not, that could cause the timezone to move with your actual location.

I will keep an eye out for your reply👀

It does and I have the timezone locked. Whenever I book in a different time zone, it books for the timezone I'm in. Not the timezone of my business.

Hi there @ASPettus 👋 Violet here, stepping in for Kassi.

If the calendar shows a message saying, "MST differs from business timezone CST" this is due to your device's timezone. You will need to edit this from your computer or phone settings (look under General> Date and Time.) Additionally, you may need to toggle off "set automatically" and also ensure that you are on Gregorian Time. This can be found under Language & Region.

I hope this information is helpful and is able to resolve this issue but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.

Hi there, @JEEsthetician - Thanks for following up on this thread.

I just double-checked with the Appointments team. They confirmed that the app will follow your device's timezone.

I have the same issue, but yes if you have an iPhone, Go to General

date/time

and turn off the “set automatically”

put in your location time zone. Mine is Cleveland. Then go back to the app, you will then see your calendar is now in your “business time zone” now you will have to go back and set the time zone to set automatically, to sync back up with the time zone you’re visiting… hope this helps

My business has a physical address. The client facing calendar remains in the business timezone but the calendar on our end changes with where you are.

No. I was recently traveling again and had the same issue. Square support sucks they don’t even understand WTF the problem is when you talk to them. Bottom line is all these years and this basic issue is not resolved that too ina. Country that has time zones and daylight savings and all kinds of f^%#ing stupidity they do with time.
all softwares are supposed to by default have built in features for that but who can explain this to square

2 years later and this is still an issue. My business is in Melbourne and I recently went on holiday to qld, it automatically changed my trading hours and moved 3 months of prebooked appointments forward by 1 hr. (Time difference from qld to melb from next weeks day light savings) customer could not understand the issue and just told me to fix it manually. 4 hrs later I fixed the times when I came back to Melbourne today and reverted the times again resulting in 8 hrs of admin I didn’t account for nor could customer cat help,

- location settings off of iPhone

- latest up date

- appointment bookings set to physical located and it’s locked gone frame.
never been so disappointed for paying for system with this sort of glitch. Not looking forward to the next trip for work where it will happen again

The problem that Square is having trouble understanding is, yes I can LOCK the Timezone where my business is at but when I TRAVEL and need to manage the books/appointments, it will SHOW the current TIMEZONE that I AM IN. Instead of just keeping the time zone displayed where my business is located and where I locked it, it shows me the Timezone I am in and displays a message saying "Calendar time zone (GMT+10) differs from business (MDT)"

(I'm currently in Sydney Australia and my business is locked in the mountain time zone) and now I have to do the math counting backwards (or forwards in some cases) in order to change or schedule a new

appointment when I would rather it ONLY DISPLAY my calendar in the TIMEZONE I LOCKED MY BUSINESS IN. Does that explanation break it down for you enough square so your engineers can fix it? We want to be able to travel freely without having to do a bunch of extra work adding or subtracting hours for times of difference and we ONLY WANT OUR CALENDARS TO DISPLAY OUR BOOKS IN THE TIME ZONE WE LOCKED IT IN AND NOT THE TIME ZONE WE HAVE TRAVELED TO. It's 2025- it’s time to get it together and get this resolved. And not require us to tinker with a bunch of other setting in our phone. The appt should be intuitive enough to just keep the calendar locked in the Timezone in which we selected and locked it in for booking and only display our calendar in that same time zone that we locked it in. It shouldn’t be THIS complicated. Why would we want to view our calendar in the square app in the time zones we’ve traveled to? How does that help us or make sense? We ONLY want to see our calendars in the time Zone location that we locked it in. The end. Periodt.

Many thanks!
