The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Square Pay no longer working on app.
We have a Samsung A11 phone that is used for our Square reader, it was working fine at our last event in Jan, and now it just says connect NFC, I have gone into settings, and there is no NFC option, but it was working in Jan, and now nothing. I have tried forgetting the device, and tried to reconnect, I just cant get the payment system to work on this phone now.
Its saying in the Square settings that the phone is connected, the phone app says the phone is connected, but it wont take payment.

Hi @NCAdmin,
Thanks for posting! ๐
I've checked our device compatibility page, and it appears that the Samsung Galaxy A11 is currently untested. This means we can't guarantee its compatibility with Tap to Pay on Android at this time. While untested devices may work if they meet Android operating conditions, we can't confirm their ongoing compatibility.
Here are a few steps you can try to get Tap to Pay working again, though I can't promise they'll be successful:
- Ensure Tap to Pay is enabled in your Square app: Go to โก More > Settings > Account > Tap to Pay on Android.
- Confirm Tap to Pay is active in your Square app: Navigate to โก More > Settings > Hardware > Tap to Pay. Once enabled, the banner at the top of the screen will read โ Tap to Pay.
- Ensure your device is running Android 9 or higher.
- Make sure you're using the latest version of the Square app.
- Enable NFC in your phone's Settings app: Go to Connections > NFC and Contactless Payments, and check NFC is switched on.
- In your phone's Settings app, make sure Developer options are turned off and location services are turned on.
- Remove your phone from its case before taking Tap to Pay payments.
While we strive to support the most popular and recent Android and iPhone models, this process can take time and unfortunately isn't feasible for every model. We can't confirm timelines for new devices being added, but you can check back for updates on compatible devices here.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help! If you have any other questions, please let us know.
