Can Barcode Scanners be connected to Square Dashboard?

We run square though a desktop pc, does anyone know if you can connect a barcode scanner to work via the pc or are they only compatible with android or Apple devices?

If you are using the Virtual Terminal, you can connect a compatible USB barcode scanner to scan items during a sale. The scanner will plug directly into a port on your computer.
