Tips for Restaurant Sales in Square for restaurants

We have a small restaurant and we just started selling alcohol.

I have my items setup in my menu like this

item: 20oz Domestic Draft

Then I have a each of my beers listed as a modifier and charge a wee bit more for the more expensive ones.

I guess my question is, is there a better way to do this?

Should I set these up as a variation instead?

Just trying to save myself some time and headaches down the road, the modifiers are harder to track in sales, but not impossible.

Thanks in advance

Hey @ThePointBBQ

I use Square for Restaurants at my Bar & Grill. What you've done is fine but like you said it's not the best for reporting but you can track it down if you need to.

I prefer to track by brand as the item. So in my main menu I have a Category button for Draft Beer that goes to Item Buttons for each Brand and each brand has a Variation for the different sizes offered. ex. Clicks are = Draft Beer -> Bud Light -> 20oz

That way I can see in a pinch what brands/sizes are performing best. Just my preference.
