Support and Resources for Sellers Affected by Cyclone Alfred (2025)
To our Sellers in Queensland and Northern New South Wales: we are thinking of you, your families, and your communities as Cyclone Alfred approaches.
We want to offer some support in the ways that we can. We’ve compiled a list of resources for impacted communities in need of immediate assistance:
- In the event of a life-threatening emergency, always call 000.
- For the State Emergency Service (SES), call 132 500.
- QLD Government: For planning and preparation resources, visit the QLD Government website.
- QLD SES: For emergency help and assistance, visit the QLD SES website.
- NSW Government: For planning and preparation resources, visit the NSW Government website.
- NSW SES: For emergency help and assistance, visit the NSW SES website.
We've also put together the following Square resources for your businesses as you navigate the days ahead:
- Learn about enabling offline payments here if you’re still able to operate your business but don’t currently have a reliable internet connection. Offline payments are processed automatically when your device regains connectivity, but please note that offline payments will expire if not processed within 24 hours.
- Temporarily place subscriptions on hold: If you need time to reopen your business, you can temporarily pause some of your software subscriptions until your business is operational. Learn more here.
- Pause active Square Marketing campaigns: You can easily stop any automated marketing campaigns and blast campaigns. Learn more here.
- Get support with your Square Loan by contacting our dedicated team who can help you explore minimum payment delays, repayment rate relief and/or payment plan options.
- Communicate with customers on your website: If you use Square Online, you can add a pop-up or banner to explain your circumstances to any potential customers, whether your business is taking a break or if shipping may be delayed.
- Temporarily pause online ordering: You can temporarily pause payment acceptance for Square Online orders from your Square Dashboard. This will keep items visible on your site but unavailable for purchase. Learn more here.
- Contact Square Support for additional help: If you have additional questions or need support, please reach out to us here.
For additional Square Support and Response Resources, please visit our Support Centre.
Please stay safe and take care of yourselves.
The Square Team
Offline payments will be declined if you do not reconnect to the internet within 24 hours of the start of your offline session (for Square Reader and Square Stand) and within 24 hours of taking your first offline payment (for Square Terminal and Square Register). By enabling offline payments, you are responsible for any expired, declined or disputed payments accepted while offline. Square is unable to provide customer contact information for payments declined while offline. Square Gift Cards, eftpos-only cards and Afterpay transactions do not work with offline payments.
