Just purchased the square pos kit with square stand, iPad and cash drawer etc.
we have downloaded square via App Store and began set up process (I have square on other iPad for mobile use). Halfway through set up the app continues to crash time and time again. App is latest version and latest iOS.
attempting to run iPad docked in square stand on charge.
any ideas?

There's a known issue with the Contactless + Chip reader that is causing the app to crash for some sellers when it tries to update.
Our engineering team has deployed a fix for it and it should be in the next app update. Keep an eye out for that update in your app store and once it becomes available- be sure to download it right away to resolve this!
Also thank you for your patience as we worked on implementing the fix.

I reached out to our Engineering team and they said it was just released to the app store and should be available within a few hours!

I just ordered my POS hardware and when I try to connect my Square Contactless and Chip Reader the app shuts down:
My Bluetooth is on
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app
Shutting down the iPad and re-starting it
The iPad is up to date and compatible (bought it through Square this week)
The chip reader is fully charged
I keep getting an orange banner at the top saying connecting to the reader and then it switches to establishing secure connection. Then the app shuts down. It closes within 5 seconds of closing the app.
If I completely delete the app the error message goes away but comes back anytime I try to connect the chip reader.
Looking for answers on
1. How to get the app from continuously shutting down
2. How to connect the card reader

thankyou for the reply. My issue is exactly the same as the other users above are mentioning. Any eta for this update? My POS is unuseable until this happens currently as I canโt even open the app??

Hi.
Our Square App (on Android) continues to crash after connecting to the reader. Is there any more information available on when the update will be available?
This is extremely urgent!
We are running version 5.89. It updated last night.

Thanks for writing in and sorry to hear about the trouble with your app. This app update has been rolled out. Give uninstalling, and reinstalling your app a try if you haven't already, which will update your app automatically.

We have square app running on Ipad in Square stand and square terminal with square reader and POS mate bar code scanner.
Apparantly POS mate barcode scanner is the only ocmpatible one with square App on Ipad. But it disconnects every minute and when we try to use it, it crashes the app on IPad. It takes 2-3 minutes for app to load again and then connect again, which is very inconvinient specially when you have customer waiting.
Does anyone know a resolution to this issue.
We are looking at changing POS system if its not resolved.

I would start there as the first port of call to ensure your device operating software and Square app are both fully up to date before moving on to the next steps. After that, you can try resetting your POS-Mate scanner using the steps provided, as this often resolves most issues similar to the one you've described.
