Call question regarding using the iPad square stand and what I’ve experienced

  • Hi I’ve got a business that is a big passion of mine and have been working on building it for the last 2 1/2 years we specialise in woodfired food I actually built the whole unit as that’s my mechanical side andWe have an excellent website which I’m on ordering can be carried out in operation for a couple of weeks now I’ve been going to site with my square stand and it’s all worked very well but I’ve noticed nobody wants an invoice or at least very rarely and it’s very time-consuming when things get busy to enter details to email an invoice to customers.
  • Our business sales are generally small ones anything from $10-$80 depending on what they buy but lots of them so add on site ultimately I’ve only been using the transaction function for a new sale.
  • I found it very hard to see the stand because of the sun and the position this is it a little frustrating maybe it’s operational and easily fixed with a setting on the iPad but also the ability to capture your audience email addresses and what have you is there an easy way to capture this information so that we can create a sales database names names and addresses or names and email addresses I also do have a Commonwealth Bank merchant facility which is only at the moment being used for emergency purposes so with the use of mobile Wi-Fi the unit works great but I have not needed yet to use the items board even if operating from home I really wouldn’t need to use that because orders come through itemise and I’m not called through— so potentially I may have purchased the wrong product for the type of business that I’m operating because I will need to replicate it whilst my customers who are ordering online certainly need to see the products and it sends through the tickets I think the package that I purchased is probably going to be of more value when operating from home and not out on the street.
  • So this is really general feedback in conversation but is there an easy way to set up away to email invoices receipts sure the customer want one when your mobile.
  • There are several screens that I have to go through to enter a sale that could be avoided and I can skip but is there A function that those pages don’t appear I’m gonna sale present itself we are just entering numbers because the unit have a camera that captures business card details and converts the card into information value value just picking up relevant name and email and finally the glare issue the square stand is fixed in one position it would be great if you could Pivot also the point-of-sale unit seems to stop workingWhen the generator stops I would’ve thought the power within the iPad would be enough to allow the touchpad to capture the sale anyway that’s it from me I’m sure a lot of these answers are easily fixed

Hey @bangaz,

Thanks for reaching out!

Wood fired food sounds delicious! I know pizza goes well in a wood-fired oven, what other kinds of food are you preparing?

  • If you're finding that customers don't often want receipts you can actually skip the receipt screen for card payments. Note that this will still display for cash transactions as it's where we calculate change amounts, and if you're using the Loyalty system the screen is not skipable. If you decide to turn this option on, you can always resend a receipt later if needed.

  • Sun glare can be hard to avoid on an iPad screen in a sunny environment - however you may want to check out a anti-glare iPad screen protector. There are a few different ones on the market, so you might want to do a google search to see what's available

  • To save email addresses and other customer info you'll want to use the Customer Directory. You can add customers to transactions directly from the Point of Sale app in addition to managing the directory from your online dashboard

  • By pivoting the Stand, do you mean tilting it forwards/backwards? You should be able to do this at least a little to improve the positioning for glare!

  • I'm not sure any additional screens can be removed from the checkout process unfortunately! I'm not 100% sure on the screens you're referring to though, are you able to post a screenshot or describe them though, so I can check?

I think that covers everything - let me know if I've missed anything or if you have any additional questions 🙂
