Visible gift card balance in app like on dashboard.

E-Gift card balances on app would be great.  The dashboard you can see the balance left on the card versus on the app, you cant. Any help would be great.

Thank you!

Hey @EcoAutoClean.  All of the Square POS apps allow you to check gift card balances.

From Square POS, go to Library > Gift Cards >  Check Balance

From Retail POS, click on the “…” at the top right > Sell or check Gift Card > Check Balance

From Restaurants POS, click Actions > Gift Cards > Check Balance

You can swipe the magnetic strips on the card, enter the number manually, or scan the bar code.

Also, after a card is used, the card balance is displayed and/or printed on the printed receipt.

Of course, you might be looking for something else, but I figured I’d start there.  Let me know if you are looking for something else.

You’re welcome.  So eGift cards work the same way.  You can use the camera to scan the bar or QR code and it works.

Client buys our services in bulk via gift card. I check them out after said services - appointments - charge - gift card on file - then i have to go through each one until I find the one that has a balance... Thats the biggest hurtle. I don't delete the zero balance ones as I like to have everything available if client ever needs anything. 😥

@EcoAutoClean ah!  That’s much clearer.  Thanks for the explanation.  So, I noodled around a little bit because with all the recent changes to every POS I couldn’t be sure there was something new here that I was missing.  There wasn’t! Ha.

That leads me to my fall-back position of suggesting that you head over to the Ideate Board and submit a feature request to the team for whichever POS you use — probably Appointments, since you mentioned that.  Ask them to add new information to the Gift Cards section of the Customer Profile view on the POS which shows the current balances of the gift cards on file for the customer.  The team will review it in time and decide if it is something they want to add to the product roadmap for the future.  Understand that this just gets the ball rolling and even if they decide to add this to the roadmap, it will be on a timeline of months unless it is already scheduled.

Also, you seem to have two feature requests — one to display balances and one to quit displaying cards with zero balances.  Don’t make the mistake of trying to put both of these in the same feature request.  Post two requests or both will be rejected.  Those are the rules, after all.

Lastly, I love these ideas.  So, after you post the requests, copy/paste their URLs back here and I’ll be sure to upvote/like both and add my support.

Best,
