how to change from square editor to standard weebly editor?

i'm a webmaster with dozens of Weebly sites over the last 15 years.

i just had a new client purchase the Professional plan.

using her dashboard access i'm only offered a Square Online Store editor/site-building system.

i need to be able to use the old Weebly builder with those tools i know so well.

how can i switch from Square Online Store builder to the old Weebly builder?

a forum search here offered this:

"Only way to go back to the original editor is to create a new account, and then select "I just want a website" (vs. I want a website and ecommerce store) when given the option after you create a new site. The wording is confusing because even if you select "I just want a website" you can still use ecommerce."

so i attempted to Deactive Account and was told:

"Unable to disable your account - It looks like your application to accept credit cards was declined. We are unable to complete your deactivation."

what is going on? we never applied to use credit cards, we just wanted to build a non-e-commerce site.

what do we do now??? help please...

Does your client have a different email address, @wileycoyote2? It might simplest to just create a new account using a different email address. The other option will be for your client to contact Square support and get transferred to the Online Store team (aka Weebly), and then ask that the email address be freed up for a new account.

I'm sorry for the frustration, @arielz. It sounds like your login is directing you to the Square support page. The instructions for reaching the team should be similar, however, the team will not be able to convert the editor for you.

The best course of action is to sign up for a new Weebly account and choose the option that you are "not selling" when you are prompted. If you have paid services in your account we can help you with moving them over from the Square account to the Weebly account once the Weebly account is created.

Could you help me do so as well? I am facing this same situation where I accidentally signed up for the square editor and already paid for a personal plan.

Hi @Builder1 Please reach out to our support team for assistance.

You can reach the team by scrolling to the bottom of our Help Center and clicking the contact us button. Once you see the automated chat window try typing something like "speak with a rep" to be directed to the teams available to your account.

Hi @sillysuzygoose The account you are logged into was created recently. We are not able to change the editor type from the backend, and the only option would be to create a brand new account using a different email address. You will need to make sure to choose the option that says "I just need a website".

Hello,

I am also trying to make a regular site (a site with the domain that ends in ".weebly.com" instead of ".square.site") but each new site I make is automatically a business account that ends in "square.site".

I accidentally chose the Business account option when signing up, and I have to use the email address I signed up with, so i cannot just make a new account.

How can I change my account from Square Online to regular Weebly?

I apologize for the confusion. We're not able to switch the editor type from the backend, unfortunately. The only option is to create a brand new account from scratch. You can let us know once you have made the new account, and then we can make sure the same site url is added to the new site.

I think a lot of people HATE the new Square website editor.  I am in that camp.  The Weebly (classic) editor gave us full control of website development - and now the Square editor is like an editor that only noobs can use.

Please tell me why Square did this to my account?  I was a first-user of Weebly and loved - now it appears my account was migrated to Square and I absolutely abhore it.

How do I get Weebly Classic editor back?

Hi, @cysze. I've moved your Pro service over to the new account for you. Let me know if you have trouble unassigning your domain name and using it with the site in the other account.

100% the same here. I only purchased Weebly because I know it and it's fast. Hate that I got bamboozled into the Square design which is awful. Ready to start tweeting out to the universe so people know NOT to use this platform.
