Unable to add caption to a specific photo

Several photos on my site have captions.

I double click on the photo in edit mode,

and the dark bar pops up above for me

to insert them. Easy.

There's just one particular photo

that does not allow this.

I can't figure out why.

Any constructive suggestions appreciated.

Which photo is it on your site that won't let you add a caption, @PENicholson?

It's the black and white house photo on bottom of page titled Bookshelf

The link added goes where it should but it does not let me add a caption

Since that last image on the page is a regular image element you have to add the caption in a different way. If you click on it in the editor you should see this:

Ok. Tried that. No captioning available.

Allows link to another web site and so on but no floating caption can be added.

Yup. It placed a permanent caption underneath, not a floating one.

Sort of odd.

All photos have floating captions but that one.

Wish I understood the mechanics of it.

If you want the caption over it, try replacing that element with a Gallery element instead - that's what the other images are using.
