There is Some SERIOUSLY Wonky Stuff Going on with my Site Editor!

Holy cowabunga!  There is some seriously WONKY stuff going on with my site editor!  Like what?  well...

  1.  Why are the 'Blog Post Title' and 'Paragraph Title' listed separately if they link to the same thing?  I want them to be different, but the 'Paragraph Title' setting is actually controlling the 'Blog Title Setting'.
  2. When I initially went in to change the 'Blog Post Title' setting, both the main AND hover colors were the green shown in the photo at the end.  There is no GREEN anywhere on my site!
  3. I make a change and when I go back it is different.  For instance, I had changed the colors of the 'Blog Post Title' back to the right colors but when I went back the hover color was green again (photo was taken AFTER I made the change)

I was looking to do a few tweaks, but now I'm scared to death to "publish" the site for fear it's going to look like a kindergarten kid was in there messing around.  (No offense to any kindergarten kids.)  Smiley Wink   Had I unknowingly "published" it in the meantime I would have had a heart attack.Right now, I'm REALLY wishing you had that undo button!

*Nervous as all get out*

*Edited to add photo. Smiley Embarassed  Heading for more coffee!*

Thanks for the bump, @Heirloom_Angel. I didn't forget! Smiley Happy

I did some additional testing and it looks to be a display issue with font options; check your "blog post title" font color, then go check the options for "links", then go back to look at "blog post titles" again.  On the second view it shows the correct colors.

I opened a ticket with our developers for further investigation, though you should be fine to publish your site in the meantime.

I am also having problems with the site publishing differently than I've set it up. I've been having this problem for a few months. I have been having this problem on all pages, not just the blog pages. I get my titles, paragraphs, images, and buttons all lined up, hit publish, check the site, and the elements are all mixed up. I've also got a problem placing images where that stupid little image menu comes up while I'm trying to resize and then I can't stop resizing because I can't "unclick" the image!

The site editor is seriously wonky right now. I'd really appreciate some sort of update, or information on how to make things better.

@TheLinz  Yeah - I'm seeing things elsewhere too, but this was a perfect example.  By the looks of things, we're not alone.  Smiley Wink  I'm sure they will have it ship-shape soon.

Hey again @Heirloom_Angel!

One thing that might be causing some trouble for you is that you're using a custom theme; changes there might be overriding what you're setting for font choices on the Theme tab, so even though you set something for your fonts there, your site ultimately uses something else from your custom theme.

I'd recommend switching to the standard version of your theme and seeing how that works for you.

@Adam  I'm not sure how this is considered a custom theme.  I am using the Momin theme and simply 'tweaked' it here & there to get the look I want.  Going back to the 'stock' theme does not thrill me in the least after having it this way for so long.  Which brings me to another point; if the theme were the issue, why would this not have come up before?  Curious, because I don't understand how some of this works.  Thank you for your help!  Smiley Happy

I made quite a few changes on Sunday night to the free one of my two sites, without any problems at all... and those changes included two new blog posts.

@Adam. I'm concerned with what you say because I'm on the verge of having a design company completely change the theme on my Pro site.  Is this going to cause me major problems?   I don't want to pay the design company each time I want to make an amendment, for fear of things going wonky, because that would defeat the object of having a Weebly site!

Hello @SusieO

At this time, you are not using a custom theme from what I see. But I will need to confirm this via PM to ensure my accuracy.

@NickyLimes. I know that I'm not currently using a custom theme, rather one of the regular ones.  What I said above is that I'm considering having a design company create a custom theme for my site and the comments I'm reading are making me concerned about having a custom theme.

I am only considering this for my Pro site (The Curious Guys).

Hello @Heirloom_Angel

I see that you changed the color of some of the button of your theme using the edit HTML/CSS button in the Theme section of your editor. Those changes are likely what are preventing your site from changing the color of the text. You can test this by making a copy of your site. Once you create the copy, you will then edit the copy and change to one of our original themes. If the options work again this will confirm that you either need to fix the custom coding or revert back to an original Weebly theme. You can also purchase excellent custom themes from here. Great Weebly Themes

Let me know if this helps 😃

@NickyLimes and @Adam  Well, I understand what you are saying to a point, but...

  1. I've been using this theme this way for literally months with no problems.  If this were due to some coding for a custom color (that, by the way, I was told would NOT adversely affect anything else on the site and was the suggestion of someone in the tech department), I would think it would have affected things immediately; it didn't.
  2. I had issues changing colors on text once in a while before I ever changed the button color.
  3. With all of the issues (mine and those of others) combined, I feel that there is something 'bigger' than a single site issue.

Take a look again at the photo I posted in the beginning and look at the colors.  Then take a look at the photo below, which was taken this morning.  I did not change anything; logged in and *BOOM* there it was.  On my live site, these are not  the colors showing.  The ones showing on the live site are the correct colors.

The cascading nature of CSS means that if your custom theme changes come after those set on the themes tab in your rendered style sheets, then your rules will always show regardless of what you set on the themes tab.

You're saying that up until recently you were able to still control things with the settings on the Themes tab, though?

My blog posts have now consumed my entire first page. To the point where I can't even see my image or subsequent text. And the author/archive/categories on the blog sidebar are "nestled" under the blog post. I can't change them at all anynmore. The blog itself will show up when I go to click for editing, but when I update, the paragraph text and image disappear entirely.

@bdegs Did you link an image to a blog post by chance?

@Adam  Yes, I have been able to control everything via the themes tab.  The only change I made was to the button color because you couldn't read the 'stock' color in the shop part of the site.  Things had been fine since then...until now.  I don't understand much about coding, etc.  I am not trying to be difficult; I just don't understand why these things are happening now when they didn't before.

One other thing I find REALLY interesting... for all of the colors for the editor to choose, it picked the same shade of green (or darn close to it) that I used to create my Dad's site, Flying Irish Creations.

I just looked at my site off of editor before I published and noticed that it ( site editor) was behind. Not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but I would appreciate the help.

I have a serious problem with my Edit page. I only see a heading picture and a button for the contact page.

Hi @lj2 Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your editor. Can you try using a different browser in private or incognito mode? I was able to load the editor, and can see the site okay.
