Published Site looks different to Editor

My recent changes to the website does not seem to show up after I click PUBLISH. Everything looks fine in the editor, but the Live page is mostly blank.

The rest of the site which hasn't been changed looks fine though.

Please help.

I found the problem - the frame of the online form was displacing the rest of the page.

It is now rectified.

Hi there, I have a similar problem as people here with my weebly page. The web editor looks fine but when I click "publish" the layout looks scrambled, contents are mixed on top of each other, at least in firefox. If I open the page in safari it looks perfect. Could you help me? The page is here: https://www.eleonorarohland.com/ please let me know if you need more info (pw etc.).

best,

Eleonora

Beautiful website, @EJR Smiley Very Happy

Is it the homepage that looks jumbled? If not can you provide the exact page name and perhaps a screen snippet of the area we should be looking? Thanks so much!

Hi Bernadette,

thanks for your reply. Yes it’s the homepage that looks jumbled, in the web editor everything looks fine. And funnily the problem only exists when I open the homepage in firefox, not in safari. When I open the page in firefox every page, so „home“, „activities“, „projects“ etc looks jumbled.

thanks for your help and all best,
Eleonora

Do you have any extensions or plugins installed in FireFox, @EJR? I compared between Safari and FireFox and couldn't see any difference between the two.

I have "privacy badger" installed on firefox on my laptop. I've tried to open the page in firefox on another computer (that also has "privacy badger") and that works perfectly fine, too, so it seems to be something very local with my firefox browser on my MacBook Air...any ideas?

Thanks,

EJR

Interesting. Can you post a screenshot of what the site looks like from your computer?

Hi,

I've been struggling for days now with sort of the same issue.

Suddenly my uploaded HD-video had gone and only text was left there where it had been displayed for months.I tried reloading and republishing it, but no result. It still looked fine in edit mode though. I've 'solved' this with a YouTube embedding (which I don't like by the way).

At the same time, my dropdown menu has changed into an unprofessional look - but still fine in editor mode - and the text of some buttons look messy - not all, only some, which I find odd - although still fine in editor mode. I'm no wizz, but I tried changing the font size for instance, but nothing changes in editor mode and neither when published. There's also too much space before my first title, which doen't show in editor mode either.

The website now looks quite shabby and unprofessional. In Chrome, but even worse in Explorer for instance.

Can anyone PLEASE help me. I basically live by the reactions I get to my site, but there have been none lately. As I mentioned elsewhere page views have dropped drastically too. I've invested too much time into this website - until now I haven't experienced too much trouble with that and I was pretty content with Weebly - to start all over.

THANK YOU!

Hi @Bautel It's possible the custom theme is conflicting with something. It would be best to make a copy of your site, revert the copy site to a standard Weebly theme, and then publish to a subdomain so that you can check the live site on desktop and mobile. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this.

Hey Bernadette,

Thanks for your reply.

I know this might seem a bit silly, but could you please tell me step by step how to do that? And how to go back to the previous version should it be equally desastrous?

A big issue now is that there seems nothing wrong in the editor mode. Should that be the case with a new theme, then I won't see if there's a difference unless the site is actually published under that theme. I'm no fan of publishing and unpublishing, because I'm afraid that something might go wrong and I can't go back.

I also would like to know, should another theme be no solution, if there's a possibility of getting some paid for support to fix things.

Getting back on track is becoming really urgent, since my business depends on it.

Thanks again,

Linda.

Not a problem, @Bautel I should have been more specific. You are using a designer account so click on Site and then More next to your site name. You should see the option to "copy site". Then edit the copied site and click Themes>Change Theme. Choose a theme and publish to a subdomain. Check the subdomain on desktop and mobile to see if everything looks okay. If it does, then it's a pretty good indication that something in your custom theme is causing the errors.

Hey Bernadette,

I went as far as previewing new themes with the copy site.

The thing is the website already looks groggy in the preview modes, whereas my custom theme looks competely O.K. in editor mode, but not so once published.

Isn't that a sign that it will look equally shabby once published under the new theme?

I didn't dare to publish it.

I've tried different themes and published them under a Weebly domain to test them. The ones that I consider as a replacement for my current custom theme all look fine in the creators mode but not so when published. So changing the theme is not the solution. What IS then?
Meanwhile I'm still stuck big time. Have been for over a week already. Is there anyone, please, who can fix this? PLEASE!

I'm sorry, @Bautel. I didn't see your response on the 18th. 😕 It looks like we are also talking about this on another thread with Adam, though. Just wanted to update you here since I didn't see your initial reply.

I was so excited this morning when I saw there was a reply from Weebly.

I got ready to work on my website, newsletter and ads today, to catch up for lost time and to finally make things right.

But I don't understand... Last time you asked me which themes I used and for which site, so I thought you were going to look into that and hopefully solve this issue once and for all. But there is no more reaction to my reply? Just saying that you wanted to update me? But there is no update.

Did you find out what's wrong and how we can fix this... urgently now? Or are you saying that you don't know and that nothing can be done? There's no answer from Adam either.

So again, I'm asking you: can you recommend anyone, anyone, who can fix this problem!? Is there a paying service maybe?

Fact: my current website looks fine in creator mode, but groggy when published. Weebly advice was to publish it under another theme. I tried several themes: same problem, as I told you yesterday.

I've been using Weebly for several years now, had some minor issues that were always easily solved. But now there seems to be a bigger one and suddenly nothing. Why? What else do I need to do to get this fixed?
