Subcategories keep showing up on feature categories on main page

I am trying to make my subcategories. They keep showing up on the main page under feature categories and makes it look as if I have more main categories then I do. How do I get it to not show subcategories on the main page? I want people to click the main featured categories on main page and go to the subcategories.

You can remove categories that you do not wish to display in the Featured Categories section. Hover over the category you wish to remove for the icon to popup.
