Adding links
Is it just me, or the new way you embedd a link into text is really bad? Every time I highlight the text I'm going to insert a link into and then I hit the link option another piece completely different piece of text appears highlighted and, if I don't realize of this, I end up overwriting a link on something that I didn't want to change and that might take me a lot to find again.
Why is this happening?

Sorry to hear you've had some trouble with our new link popup, @JulianAvila. What browser were you using when you saw that happen?

I agree the "Linking" function... at least to a file... is horrible. I've, literally, wasted hours screwing with it over the past week. The Linking feature has changed and it's almost unusable. I've been on the phone support 3 times in the last 5 days with your Support folks... waste of time for me and you.
PLEASE GO BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS... (which was simple and which worked!!)

There are a few different fixes to the linking popup that are being worked on based on feedback that you and others have provided. Thanks for your patience, guys!

I'm having trouble adding links as well, and it's always been such a simple, stress-free process. I'm trying to add a link to a line of text, and nothing happens. I have to update this asap, and I have no idea why it's not working. Help!
Please! If it ain't broke, don't fix it. So far, the changes you've been making to the process of working on my site are making me rethink my choice of Weebly for my websites. It was such a simple process when I built the two sites, now it's a nightmare to work on them.

Replying to my own question. I finally had to shut down the site entirely, reopen and then was able to add the link. I'm using Opera, so not sure if that's the problem or not, but this is just frustrating as can be.

We do our best to make sure the editor works well in a variety of browsers, although for the best results I'd recommend sticking to Chrome, FireFox, or Safari.

I tried to add a link as well as you did months ago. I didn't manage to do it. I used the Internet Explorer and then FireFox. But no way... After wasting a lot of time, I gave up.
What about your improvements?
I'm often disappointed concerning the handling in general (changing text etc.)
Please see, that the system works stable.

Totally agree. It was fine before (except that it would be really nice to have the "link appears in a new page" button be something you could set permanently under settings, rather than having to select it individually for every single link). What is the purpose of having to choose from a list of different kinds of sites/pages every time you link? It adds a cumbersome extra step and I don't understand what advantage it provides.
As for the accidental selection of additional text when you are linking, that was happening to me too. When you click out of the link box to go back to your main text, do NOT click inside your text box. Click somewhere else on the page. That should work. However, it is annoying to have to always think about this. Please return link button to its previous simplicity.

The 'create link' is not working properly. I've tried for the last hour to create a link, but it is not working. 11:18pm EST April 24, 2016 If any of the ADMINS see this, please repair.
Thanks,

Come on, Adam. This is the second time you've asked someone what their browser is. It shouldn't matter! Your team should be able to make it easy to insert links regardless of the browser. A month later, it looks like the problem is still not fixed!

I'm having the exact same problem. I've added links a couple of weeks ago, no problems, but now , they won't 'stick'. I do everything the same, and they're not adding. Very frustrating. I'm using a mac, and running el capitan.

After you enter your link. Do not click outside of the linking box/panel back onto the page immediately. Instead, click below the box where you entered your link into a blank gray area. You will not see it do anything, but it will force a save, in our system. Finally, click out of the linking box back onto your page and the link should be there. To check hover your mouse over the linked area.

Doesn't work for me.
I'm wasting hours trying to link either single words, sentences, or a "read more" box. neither one works. I tried it for days now. I thought, if something is down on your side, you may fix it. But finally, I made my way into the support center only to find out, that others have the same problem. Obviously for longer! Very disappointing!
The use of a website is useless if this doesn't work. I'll definitely cancel my website if this problem persists.

Hi FL,
When setting your links, you will want to ensure that you click the light gray backwards check mark to the right of whatever type of link you are creating.
BEFORE linking:
After clicking the backwards check mark, it will turn into a blue forward facing checkmark.
AFTER linking:
You can check to ensure that the link is set correctly by clicking your cursor at the very end of the text you have linked. In this case, putting the cursor at the end of REPORT, you see the blue drop-down that indicates the link is set:

Hi, @FL!@FL!
If you're still having trouble with your links.
Can you send me some examples of the links you're trying to create, that are not working? Which page and location? Please, be sure to include where you want the areas linked to. Then, I can take a closer look at the problem in your account.

I had trouble adding links.
I would type in the name of the link I wanted to make,
then I would highlight that name,
then click on the "create link" button, and went through the rest, finally choosing 'open link on new page.'
But when I finished, and I click on the page to make the file upload window go away, the name of my file would be inserted and the name of the link shoved over.
Here's how I managed to fix this: When I finish, instead of clicking somewhere on the page, I click exactly on the link I just made. If I click anywhere else, what I described above will happen.
However, the links do not open in a new window. They are downloaded. The links on my other pages are fine. This is the first time in almost a year I've edited my Weebly site. Why is it acting screwy?
