Can Not Delete Spacer

Every time i try to delete several spacers, my entire page disappears! i have to quickly exit Edit Mode and then re-enter. My page is still there (Thanks goodness!) and I've learned to 'Publish' before i try it each time. But i still can not eliminate the extra wide spaces without doing damage.

Can someone help me to understand why this happens and how to accomplish my goal?

Can you try switching to Chrome or FireFox, @Cre8ful? I think it's likely related to the browser you're using. Also, if the spacers you're trying to delete are in columns, try deleting the entire columns element instead.

Hello Cre8ful! Where are these spacers? We'll give it a look.

Hi, Queso!

This problem has plagued me from my start on Weebly. Many times the spacer DOUBLES when i try to delete it, as well as its ability to make my entire page dissapear. But I've learned to keep it at bay by inserting divider lines w/zero top & bottom space. It seems with a divider in place, i can delete some of the spacers, but the others will not budge without taking the page (minus the header) with them.

Currently, the spacers i refer to are toward the bottom of my Welcome Page, just above my photo.  There are at least 3 seperate spacers there: 2-half page spacers (making a column) and 1-full page width. (There may be more --I discover them when i try to delete them.) I cannot re-size them.

Additionally, there is at least one 'marker-spacer' that tells me i won't see it when site is published. Have no idea why it is there or if it has anything to do with my original spacer problem.  I certainly need -and would appreciate your help. Thank you!

Hi, @Adam!

Thank you for your suggestions. I am very hesitant about changing to Chrome or FireFox as i had done this previously with many unwanted results, especially my toolbar and Favorites. So i remain w/IE. Don't know how this connects to the spacer problem but will bow to your expertise.

Apparently I did not create columns (so cannot delete), but had placed the spacers side-by-side, and the one full width spacer, above them. This time for some reason, i was able to grab a corner of each spacer and re-size to a minimum height. It helps!  The other "Up to top Placeholder" remains. It looks like i can 'x' it out, but i don't know what damage that will do. So i think i'll keep it for now.

Thank you for your time and assistance, @Adam. If you can think of any other way for me to rid my page of these spacers, please let me know.

Hi Adam,

I have the exact same problem! I've got like 5 spacers at the bottom of my home page, and they cannot be deleted!

I'm already using Chrome... is there any other way I could try?

Please help!

Thanks!

Stella

Sorry to hear that, Stella. Your spacers are in columns, right? Click on a divider between them, then delete the columns element that contains them all. That should do the trick.

I'm having the same problem. I can delete one or two of the spacers, but then, the last spacer I try deleting deletes everything on the page.

The "columns" are not colums - more like the spacers create the columns, but not by me. Please help - I can't get them to go away. I use Chrome.

Which page of your site are they on, @workshop30? I'll see if I can remove them for you.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I have a column of spacers but when I click on the divider, no x can be seen to remove them.

Hey there iween! Sorry for the trouble, I haven't been able to find any duplicate spacers on the posts there yet. Can you let us know the spot in the post they're in, if they're still present?

Resolved now. I used the mobile app to remove it.

Hi Adam,

I have tried every bit of advice written from changing browsers to moving them etc.  Nothing I do seems to work, and I am now at the point where I can't keep deleting pages and remaking them and hoping the spacers don't appear again. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

My weebly website is here and the issue is on the home page in the header layout.  There is a big gap under the slide and the text which is two different layers of spacers with multiple columns (and yes, I've tried deleting them, moving them, doing multiple deletes etc.).

I've removed the spacers for you, @Joe-Sydney. I'm not sure why it was giving you so much trouble, but they're gone in the editor so you can re-publish when it's convenient.

Roses are red, violets are blue, when it comes to Weebly, there is no one but you :0)

Thanks Adam, genuinely appreciated.  I also don't know why it was causing such an issue, but hopefully there is a small bug somewhere in a sneaky line of code that just needs to be resolved in the next update.

weeblyingly yours

Haha, it was no trouble - well... it was some for you, unfortunately, but I'm glad I could help.

Hey Adam,

I am having all of the same problems everyone here has mentioned and no matter what I do the spacers won't go away. I tried to move them and delete them and it's like it just duplicates them. Can you go into my site and remove all the spacers in the bottom between the section with wildlife pics and the social media like icons at the very bottom?

They don't show on the live site because I haven't updated yet because I'm still trying to remove spacers. 😞

Thanks!
