Transfer domain EPP code into Weebly

Hi everyone,

I feel like this must have been asked a hundred times but I can't find an answer to my question.

I have a domain with a company called "Website Builder" and I have the EPP code to transfer the domain to Weebly. I have had the domain for about 3 years although I have just renewed it.

When I go through the setup guide, I only get the option to connect. Transfer is greyed out. Website builder say the domain in ready to transfer.

The domain is wegga.org

Please help! The website is now offline as I've been trying to sort this for ages.  Thank you

Hey @WeggaPaisley - I’m not totally convinced that you can transfer a domain into the Square system yet.

I have mine with GoDaddy (Square use them as their registrar too) and then connect that to my Square sites. I like this option as it gives full flexibility with the renewal and settings.

You should be able to move to something like godaddy/1and1 and connect to your site without having to pay to transfer.

Hey @WeggaPaisley, thanks for your post!

Transferring your third-party domain name to Square allows you to manage everything for your website from our simple-to-use interface. To transfer in your domain:

  1. From your Square Online Overview page, go to Website > Domains.
  2. Select Connect domain.
  3. Under Use a domain I own elsewhere, type in the domain name you want to transfer and select Verify.
  4. Select transfer your domain and follow the step-by-step instructions.

Most domain transfers will take approximately 7-10 days to complete. We recommend you connect your third-party domain to your Square Online site first before you transfer, as this greatly helps minimize any potential down time for your site while the domain is transferring.

Note: At this time, we can only accept ‘.com’, ‘.net’ and ‘.org’ domains for transfer. All other domains hosted by third parties can be connected to your website.

If the steps above don't work, can you send me a screenshot of the greyed-out Transfer button? I may have to further investigate and escalate to our teams internally.

Learn more about transferring your domain name to Square.

Hi Skyler_

Thanks for replying.  Weirdly, if I try to screenshot it, both options go grey! This is if I try to publish the website the follow the instructions for adding the domain.

However, following instructions gives me this screen:  No option to transfer, only to connect.

Hi there, @WeggaPaisley,

Interesting! Can you please provide the domain you are trying to transfer so we can take a closer look?

Thank you, @WeggaPaisley,

Sorry for all of the questions, I just tried to look at your domain but I was not able to find much information. Have you recently updated the billing of the domain, is it coming close to the expiration? This can cause the domain to be locked for 60 days, which is why you would not see the option to transfer just yet. Where is the domain owned?

It's with a company called "website builder" and, yes, it has just been renewed. I wonder if I should just connect it for now then have a go at transferring it in a couple of months. They say they have unlocked it etc and given me the epp. Very strange!
