Inventory & PO By Pound

Hey there! We use the Purchase Orders to track our incoming inventory (as a receiving order, essentially) and to make sure that we have a record of the cost of incoming orders.

We sell some of our products by the pound, but unfortunately POs do not let you enter items in using decimals - they must be a whole number.

Obviously this means my inventory is off. Any thoughts or suggestions? We are doing a high volume of sales and need something that is easy to manage!

Hi, @applehillfarm ! Welcome to the Square Community!!

I know a lot of sellers are wanting decimal quanities to be a feature, so I'm hoping it will roll out soon.

In the meantime, MarketMan or Shopventory both integrate with Square and support decimal quantities and advanced inventory tracking. These let you create purchase orders with partial quantities, track real unit costs, and sync back to Square for sales.

I hope this helps!

I found this same problem as well. So the work around I did was along these lines, sadly it still involves a multi-step process.

I receive the PO with the whole numbers (I get a spreadsheet with the actuals). Then I go back to each item and then receive the inventory that covers the decimal.

Seems like such a small change for Square to make though to add this capability.
