PTO Questions
Hey everyone! I've always tracked our employee's PTO manually and paid it out as "Additional Pay" during Payroll, but I'm considering switching to Square's PTO tracking, using the accrual method. I just have a couple of questions for anyone who has been using this system for a while:
1) Does accrued PTO roll over from year-to-year?
If so, then a follow-up question: Say an employee has reached their max accrual by December and rolls it over to the following year. When do they begin accruing PTO again? Once they have used any amount of the hours, or once their PTO balance is back to zero?
2) Is PTO accrual automatically calculated by calendar year -- January to December?
Thanks so much!

@DinaLRosenberg -- I saw you mention that you use the accrual method for employee PTO. Not sure if you use Square's system, but if you have any insight, I'd appreciate it!

Hello @mksavage, I wanted to inform you that PTO will begin to accrue again once any amount is utilized. Additionally, PTO accrual is based on the calendar year from January to December. I hope this information is helpful to you.

That's super helpful, thank you so much @griffin_willig!
That's interesting because it means that if someone hit their max accrual (say 32 hours) mid-year and then used those hours right away, they would begin earning again and could potentially earn/use more than the intended annual max amount (32 hours) within the year... am I understanding that right?
